Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Ultimate

My biggest BEEF -- I use the product once each year. Each year I get the opportunity to spend $50 to $100 to use it again on the same computer. I started with V9 and now have V10.5 which will not work on XP with SP3 now. Pinnacle does not support V10 any longer, so I cannot update the 10.5 to the 10.7. My only choice is to buy an upgrade to V12. I'm disgusted! I bought the best in the beginning to avoid problems in the future and that is exactly what I find I have -- economic problems with Pinnacle. I would not like to add up the costs of all the pieces I have spent to date. -- No answer from Pinnacle either to the email sent over this problem. I have been a good customer to them to date and they continue to juice me for more. NO MORE! |

I have used the Pinnacle Studio and Moviebox for about 8years now and love it. I have been doing video photo albums for about 20 years and have never used a more easier tool. I am able to create videos in minutes that would have taken me hours to do in the past, and with a much more professional look. Interface is easy to understand and a very powerful tool. The captured video does take up hard drive space, but nothing a external 500 gig drive wont cure. You wont be disappointed. |

I purchased the movie box with Studio 10 over a year ago. I finally started using it to covert all of our family VHS tapes last fall and ran into all kinds of issues. Pinnical has all kinds of bells and whistles, but they create too many bugs and bristles. The box does a relatively good job of transfering the tapes onto the hard drive but be prepared with lots of drive space because one two-hour tape can take up to 20 gigs of space until a movie is rendered.Don't plan on using your computer for anything else when capturing a video, otherwise you will drop frames like crazy and compromise the final video quality. The program refuses to render a video with a menu and chapters attached. Pinnacle customer service is non-existent so I have been researching their fourm/discussion pages. Some people have found some work arounds that are extremely complicated and IMHO unacceptable. Fourm is full of dissatisfied customers looking for answers to flaws in program. |
This device comes with version 12.1 of the Studio software. The website and the tutorials say that the latest SW is a much-improved version 14. To get that I need to pay an additional $65. I've tried emailing them but have basically gotten a runaround. On the other hand, it works as advertised.
