Promise Fasttrak TX2300 2 Port SATA2 3GBPS PCI RAID Controller 0/1/JBOD OEM
Cons:Raid 5 would be nice
Pros:Easy to set up and install Comment:
Yet another great Promise card. As M.A.D. said you get a great bonus of 2 SATA cables and a splitter cable, which was absolutely great; saved a couple bucks. I'm running it in 32bit winxp with another promise IDE card, they're working together great, no problems no conflicts. Very easy and simple to set up raid too. |

Promise Fasttrak TX2300 2 Port SATA2 3GBPS PCI RAID Controller 0/1/JBOD OEM
Cons:PCI bus (slower)New BIOS hard to find
Pros:PriceSATA300Low profile Comment:
This is a good Promise SATA RAID card. What's great: you get 2 SATA300 cables, 1 Molex to 2 SATA power cable and low profile bracket for servers. I had a hard time finding the latest BIOS firmware for x64 support, it's only on some chinese drivers website. However the latest drivers and software are on the website (weird?). There is a nice Windows Utility called WebPAM (Web Promise Array Management) that helps you easily configure your array and even send an email alert when a drive fails. Of course it's PCI only so bandwith is limited at 133 MB/s and shared among other devices. The price is great tough compared to other brands (Highpoint); you do get more for your money. |
Mobo didn't come with SATA? Really want to make a RAID? Promise has a great solution here. You do need some technical knowledge, and Promise does not have the greatest documentation in the world, but if you're ok with the limits of PCI interface speed then this will do.
