I've installed a few of these cameras in a retail store and I was very impressed with the quality of the housing, the lense is standard varifocal which is fine for most applications. Although I did infact choose these cameras for day time purposes, with just a small amount of light they still provide a decent picture. So I have to argue with the other reviews that are saying its useless at night. This camera is not intended to operate below .01 lux. When you select cameras for a job you have to choose the right camera for the right application, if you plan to use this camera outdoors, be sure the area its monitoring is fairly well lit, preferably by halogen, LED or fluorescent bulb's that produce a clear ''white'' light, be sure light source is not pointing near camera. Get a IR camera if you want clear images in below .01 l

If you are looking for a security camera, this is not it. Day quality is fine, but, the night vision is extremely poor. You can't read a license plate of a car. And, the faces of people are 'whited- out' even at 10 feet.
