Why didn't you?
Comment:
Bruce I do not see your problem with this product, why did you not hook your power supply cables direct to the plug of the adapter then shrink wrap the connection with the rubber heat shrink made for just this type of connection available at any electrical supply store? |

Q-See QSB550SR High Resolution 540TVL CCD Camera - 250ft night vision
Comment:
I purchased this camera primarily for night time viewing/recording. It has excellent range and focusing capabilities. After speaking with Technical Support on the product, it turns out that you MUST use the power adapter and cord provided with the camera. If you do not do this the camera will turn off the video when it switches to night mode. This was really annoying as I had already pre-wired my house with a standard power distribution panel and cables. Therefore, unless you have a power outlet nearby or you are willing to put in a power outlet for the adapter, you won't have success with this camera. There is no mention of this requirement on Tiger Direct's web site or the vendor's web site. |
I haven't bought this camera but I would like to add a commit to keep the excitement about this camera. The other reviewer Bruce States that the Tech Supports says the Power adapter must be used. Let me state that the adapter that comes with this like any other camera that comes with an adapter that will put out a certain amount of current per length of wire to the camera. If the adapter is only 1 amp at 12 volts DC, then just simply get a power supply or an adapter that puts out 5 amps or more at 12 volts and then connect it to the longer wires that have been installed and it will work as design. When anytime the length of the wires of a power adapter needs to be extended, consider the distance and the current that may be needed to to reach the device in order to make it work. Most times the supply need to be upgraded to a higher current supply. Its that simple and the camera can still be used.
