Razer Orbweaver Elite Mechanical Gaming Keypad Adjustable Modules Fully Programmable Keys
Cons:No braided cable 8-way directional pad too small
Pros:ResponsiveEasy to configureCustomizableLots of macros and keymaps |
Previously, never owned a keypad because of several reasons: extra $, keyboards can do the job too, never used one before. However I decided to go for this product and I have really enjoyed using it. The physical customization is a big plus in my book, since it allows you to rest your hand in the most comfortable position possible. The customization that you can do with Razer Synapse 2.0 goes beyond what you will ever need. Each profile has 8 keymaps, if you play a lot of MMOs or some RTS you will need a lot of keymaps, and 8 is more than enough. There's also macros that you can use for gaming or every day use. It is not a keyboard, typing with it is going to be excruciatingly long and painful BUT it is 10x more comfortable than any keyboard. I have used this keypad for BF3, BF4, SC2, Dota 2, Guild Wars 2, etc, etc, and once you get over the learning curve on your first week you'll never go back. It is extremely comfortable (repeating myself) and you can map it to pretty much anything you want to do. As for the cons, the braided cable I have come to expect from Razer, and tbh this keypad is not for free so I would have expected to get a braided cable for it. Also the 8-way directional pad is a tad small, it takes getting used to it to be able not to press it in the wrong angles. Besides that I would HIGHLY recommend it, and I can only hope that one day with the SteamBox Razer will actually think of supporting Linux. (The keypad works on Linux but there's no macros of course, nor are there keymaps, so you get the default keys)Coming from someone that never saw any advantages or uses for a keypad, I am extremely glad to say that I was wrong.
