Came with all the parts.Look to be functioning fine. They look cheap, but appear OK.Undoubtedly not for frequent hot swaps. The fans have two speeds: 1- Loud2- LouderJust silly. I got these rather of the Athena Energy units I ordered. Not worth the hassle to return. Seem to be working. Will almost certainly replace the fans with anything significantly less insane.

Beefy adequate to not fall apart when you appear at it cross eyed. (It's not a tank; but, built effectively) Functions as advertised. Fantastic bang for the buck (Virtually identical to the Thermaltake model and less expensive to boot). Comes with locking SATA cables. The fan in higher speed is very loud. Not a difficulty for the typically noisy server farm; but, an concern for the property user if you have it in your bedroom or in a media Pc.Also, trying to operate the locking device has a tendancy to pop the handle out. It doesn't eject/disconnect the drive; but, it is annoying all the similar.Since I don't swap drives as well typically and I place the backplane in a server in my basement, I'm nevertheless giving it 5 eggs. The screws applied to hold the drives in the tray are unique in my book. They have a extremely thin head. Probably this is typical for this sort of backplane; but, I don't have any spares like this and I wouldn't know exactly where to get more if I lost any of them. Keep track of exactly where they go when altering out your drives!

Operates as advertised. Excellent worksmanship (smooth edges; all screw holes chamfered) possibly the plastic handles but hasn't been an concern so far. as lengthy as you aren't trying to pry on it you need to be fine Installed this in an Antec case with four 1.5TB seagate drives. Employing the machine with Windows Property Server. The believed is that when the four or five TB drives are readily available it will be effortless to replace them with out the will need to power down.

Simple to alter hdd's with no having to powerdown, and pull the tower side off if a Raid have been to fail. Cool temps with 80mm fan and enjoy the design of the trays. Tends to make wire management in my case significantly far more tolerable. Fan is Loud! I have my file server below the stairs in my basment, hooked up to my Gigabit Network and each and every time I'm either in my washroom or going up the stairs to the primary floor of my house, I can hear the fan... even on low settings... yikes... I bought a Silentx fan to replace the one inside, otherwise I have no true complaints about this unit. Solid get...

Purchased 1 of these to place in a web hosting server for simpler access. Although the unit is loud, it gives you the sense that it is taking care of the ventilation needs. Unit isn't genuinely "hot swap". If you have the machine operating and put in a tough drive, then push the button to turn on that bay, it kills power for a moment to the other bays. When the tough drives are on, the manual says the LEDs are supposed to be green - and flash orange when there is activity. A single bay is green when the drives are on and flashes orange when there is activity - but two other individuals are orange and flash red when there is activity. Makes accessing drives considerably much easier. No more opening the case, taking out screws. With this, you turn the machine off, open the bay and replace (although there are screws that hold the drive to the tray).

I ordered two of these SATA backplanes to fit in the front drive bays of a Rosewill RSV-Z4000 4U rackmount case. They fit completely and provide me with eight front-accessible 3-1ǘ" drives. I have been running the server completely populated with all 8 drives running for about a month with no issues.I was worried about how evenly the drive temperatures would be, since the fan is really only behind the two middle drives, leaving the upper and reduce drives with less airflow (I presume). Intelligent monitoring of drive temperature shows them to be inside a single degree of each and every other at all occasions.I did some rough speed measurements to guarantee I was obtaining complete SATA II speeds. In a 4-drive RAID10 configuration using Linux software RAID I got sequential reads of over 300 MB/s and writes about 250 MB/s on ten GB files. That is a lot quickly.Added SNT trays are cheap. As other individuals have noted, the lock/unlock levers are pretty flimsy plastic. I'd add that the whole mechanism of locking and unlocking the drives in spot is flimsy from levers to plastic locks to extremely minimal aluminum trays (although that is partly an benefit as it provides great cooling flow). You just have to be genuinely careful, I feel.Another con is that the lights along the side are also on the net/offline buttons. Wo is me if I accidentally hit one particular of those buttons (or a curious visitor does) and a drive or two get taken offline. I would seriously choose a way to lock everything down -- disable physically as nicely as electrically locking the drives in. On the complete, with the server containing these backplanes in a cabinet with a usually closed door, there shouldn't be any challenge with accidentally getting rid of a drive or accidentally taking 1 offline, but I be concerned nonetheless. Curious fingers have a way of discovering these opportunities. The combination of a RSV-Z4000 case and two of these SATA backplanes is an incredible bargain for an 8-drive server setup, with amazingly minimal problems assembling the whole thing. Extremely advised.

Making use of in a property fileserver, keeps the seagate 7200.12 drives cool, i have 3 500 and 1 tb model in it and just works. Fan keeps it all cool i mean cool cooler than just a fan blowing across. The included cables are the clipping cables which is great. None, the cages are aluminum and if theres nothing at all in the cage its sort of a discomfort to get it to slide in. More a gripe then a con.

Bought 2 of these for use with a 3ware 9550sx hardware raid controller. Fit and finish of the item is fine. Good that it can use each SATA or MOLEX for power ƒ connectors for each and every). Tested by pulling and pushing drives on a 8 drive raid away more than the course of a couple of days and its operating specifically as expected. I'm going to get 2 additional with out altering to a diverse brand/type so its working as well as can be hoped for a low expense hot swap product. The fronts are plastic and have the prospective for breakage but as extended as you're moderately careful its a non-concern. The unit is deep adequate that the SATA would have interfered with my MB (huge extended ATX mb for dual opterons and i have a massive 10 5.25 front case) so some folks may run into troubles if you're employing a smallish case.

It worked out of the box. Simple to set up and the drive bays are effortless to use. Good construction as well. I have a ICY DOCK 4 in three that is way tougher to manipulate and eliminate drives. This a single is a lot nicer in that regards. The fan is extremely loud. I'm going to have to replace it. I have my WHS in my media closet and you can hear the fan on this unit down the hall. It's currently set to the lowest setting as well. On high it sounds like a little hair dryer. It's roughly three instances louder than the ICY DOCK... You'd believe that for the money that they would have a quieter fan. I took off two eggs for the fan alone just since it is a thing that is a main discomfort to hear and one thing that I will have to pay out of my pocket to fix.

Complete drive chassis is aluminum, which aids a lot for heat dissipation. Fan is quiet, even at "High" setting. It works. Technique efficiency on a Raid10 did diminish, but the pro of a hot-swap definitely outweighs this con. Utilised in a raid10 server setup in a medical practice. This need to help in the event of a different drive failure and not having to drop the complete medical records server.
