SUPERMICRO CSE-512L-260B Black 1U Rackmount 14" Mini Server Case
Comment:
- Very Space Ideal- I/O Plate Matches Most SuperMicro Motherboards- Extremely Very good Price - No Fan Redundancy- Incredibly Loud System Fan What can I say, it's a wonderful case. The only factor I don't like about it is that there's no fan redundancy. Though that can be replaced, it's challenging for a individual like me who lives from the data center. Just as a side note, be positive to get left angle sata cables or it won't work at all. Also get a P4 to sata power connector as well (right angle). I haven't noticed any on NewEgg but do some browsing. These cables are absolutely necessary or your configuration won't function. |

Low-cost. Well built. If you want to use a non-supermicro motherboard, you need to have to order new front-panel cables (someone else has posted the portion numbers).Secondly, if that motherboard has audio drivers then make positive you have a dremel. Dremels rule. :-) I thought about cutting a hole in the best and mounting a typical CPU heatsink fan, giving it a muscle-auto-with-super-charger appear, but then I realized that would just be silly. |

SUPERMICRO CSE-512L-260B Black 1U Rackmount 14" Mini Server Case
Cons:This won't fit most standard MB's :).
Pros:Great server chassis. Comment:
Great for building a SM server. Don't let the 260 watt PSU fool you. This is a -server- grade power supply/chassis.... This is NOT quiet at all. |
Little form factor, comes with a solid power supply, room for two 3.five hard drives, no sharp egdes, regular Super Micro steel and form, in my opion one of the greatest in the after market case firms. Excellent for house NAS small office or a server case that will not stick out to far in a 2 post rack and mounts without having any extra hardware. o and the Cost :). The blower fan can be loud but the moboard stepps the fan down to its lowest setting 99% of the time, with the atom moboard from super mirco :), 1% for the start out up time about 10 seconds ever couple of months for cleaning. My PC is louder. I am using a Intel Atom Proc so that may possibly have one thing to do with not needing the fan on high. Would be sweat if it had a air filter for the front. other than that it is awsome for the money, I plan on getting a second 1 for somthing :). I didn't think I would like the 1U style but after I built the method (supermicro intel atom moboard vital mem WD harddrive 1 TB and Freenas) this has been so far the ideal setup I have employed. I have always built way to huge in the past and have payed the cost. for a household NAS to a little workplace file server you cant go wrong, you froget it is even thier. I applied a SATA CF flash card adapter that mounts in the PCI card slot on the case and it hold the OS (Freenas). you could use a USB flash but i was looking for something a little more neat.
