I'm employing this box as a router/firewall and it appears to be handling it self nicely. More rapidly then I expected for a inexpensive box like this. fan noise could be far better, but not incredibly abnormal for equipment like this. |

Impressive little box. Testing with server 2008 installed flawlessly. Will be commissioned as open source load balancing firewall in the close to future as it was originally bought for this. Includes RISER CARD ! big plus in my opinion. internal onboard USB is nice feature although limited based on vertical space but can be solved with an L usb adapter. Runs warm. A case fan would be nice but have not had any issues with overheating.Memory slot was a small tight took a small fiddling to get it seated adequatelyESATA would be nice as nicely none of these genuinely warrant may choose one up for the home for low price vpn / internet server |
Uncomplicated, effective, uncomplicated to operate with. As another reviewer talked about this particular 1U comes WITH a riser card for PCI-E. That was a enormous plus more than their other atom 1U systems. Performs with VMWare ESXi 4.1 completely other than a warning about a case fan... which it lacks. None for me other than all the screws to open it. Some people complain they are a little loud due to the energy supply fan, but they are being picky. Basic, worked correct out of the box. Bought as a package with a 2GB stick of RAM, and 1TB HDD. I already have a couple atom 1U systems operating as Untangle firewalls and had bought this to be but one more. Now I am going to try it out as a light weight VMWare ESXi host and see if I can run both a firewall and a light net or file server.
