SYBA SD-PEX-JM1A1E1S PCI Express SATA / IDE RAID Card - Retail
Cons:The eSATA socket on the back of the card is not centred within the card bracket. Consequently you have to force the connector from your eSATA cable into the eSATA socket on the card, wiggling it a bit, to get it to lock in place.
Pros:Single card gives you the ability to add both Serial and Parallel ATA devices (2 of each; 4 total). Serial ATA devices are supported as one internal and one external (i.e. "eSATA"). |
I have only tested the SATA features of the card; I'm sure the PATA interface would have no problems.I was almost ready to do an RMA on the card because I couldn't get it to recognize a drive I tried to attach via the eSATA (external) interface. I confirmed that the drive worked by attaching it to the internal interface using a 3rd-party SATA to eSATA cable & bracket. After seeing that this worked, I noticed that the eSATA socket on the back of the card was not centred in the slot like it is with the 3rd-party bracket. I was able to get the eSATA cable connector to seat properly by forcing it - it hangs up on the edge of the socket opening in the chassis. By forcing it and wiggling it slightly, you can get the card to move a little bit and the connector will seat.
