SYBA SD-SATA-4P PCI SATA Controller Card
Cons:On the box - "Support Linus.". No mention of whether the vitamin guy, the NCIX guy or the OS guy. There are reports of some cards with a different Silicon Image processor corrupting data.
Pros:Price: I paid around $35 for my first version of this card. this one on sale for under $25 seems a great deal. This is the simple solution for adding drives to an old system. |

SYBA SD-SATA-4P PCI SATA Controller Card
Cons:None
Pros:Inexpensive Comment:
Used this to replace a dead controller. Seems to be working fine with a RAID 0 setup. The array is preforming well. |

SYBA SD-SATA-4P PCI SATA Controller Card
Cons:RAID is a bit shoddy
Pros:It does exactly what it saysPretty small4 ports Comment:
This is a nice little PCI SATA controller. It really helps when you want to add a few extra hdd's and the only thing you're lacking is the sata controller. Be sure to pick up some 3.5" to 5.25" brackets in case you run out of space for hdd's. |

SYBA SD-SATA-4P PCI SATA Controller Card
Cons:Only supports SATA spec 1.0 (1.5 Gb/s), using with newer SATA 2.0 (3 Gb/s) or 3.0 (6 Gb/s) drives won't be optimum.
Pros:Inexpensive way to add internal SATA drives to a PC that doesn't have enough SATA ports (or none at all on older motherboards);supports RAID 0, 1 or 0+1. Comment:
This filled a need to quickly & cheaply add more drives on a home server running WHS.If you need additional 4 SATA ports at higher SATA2 or SATA3 speeds, or other RAID types, then look at other Syba or other brands cards. Examples from NCIX current product list:SKU 53815 Syba SY-PEX40008 4 Channel SATA II Controller Card PCI-E 1xSKU 48080 Syba 4 Port Internal SATA II RAID 0/1/5/10/JBOD PCI Controller Card |

SYBA SD-SATA-4P PCI SATA Controller Card
Cons:-none yet!
Pros:+provides four extra sata ports with optional raid support Comment:
bought this mainly to add a new harddrive to my old S478 P4 system which doesn't have any sata. chose this over a regular converter for the RAID setup. the card is very simple to use and does its job. couldn't be happier. |

SYBA SD-SATA-4P PCI SATA Controller Card
Cons:
None so far.
Pros: Works right out of the box on Windows 7. Comment:
If you look at my review of the SD-SATA-150R I've made, you will see this card is much more compatible. It is currently plugged to a blu-ray reader (ASUS BR-04B2T), it works just fine. It's a cheap way to get more SATA ports.Don't expect to get 200 MB/s from this card (RAID 0 or 1), you will be limited to the PCI bandwidth of your motherboard. |
I have some old towers, and now some old P4 systems (with pcie 16 for use after this). I can get cooler master drive cages with cooling for $23.00, and cabling for $4 per drive. A proper single rail 12V PS is vital for adding backup drives!Use this card with a check-summing system! I will update as I go. Yep hugely slow!
