Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C-A03CA Intel Core i7 3517UM 8GB 256GB SSD 15IN Windows 8 Ultrabook Black
Cons:Runs hot sometimes, issues with creating a system restore image
Pros:Light, fast, good battery life and good screen Comment:
I attempted to order the Series 9 13 inch a couple of times but out of the box there were a couple of issues (crooked key, disfunctional key) and both these issues were separate and I returned the items. Finally, I think I will keep this one. This is my first PC laptop in more than a decade and I had my reservations about windows but was going back to school and worried about the programs I would be able to use. Some excel add-ins do not work on office for mac. Also, macbooks have a shorter battery life when running windows. I got the 15 inch series 9 after having worked on an iMac 27 inch for a couple of years. The screen is barely what I could tolerate and the weight is surprisingly a non-issue. This machine is great but does run a little hot sometimes; it is dense. I also had an issue with the Windows 7 system restore. It is incompatible with the LaCie Rikiki external hard drive upon first attempt. I actually returned the LaCie since I could not for the life of me create a proper system image despite extensive troubleshooting. This might be an issue I will eventually solve but for now it counts as a con. Overall, a good first ultrabook for a student. |

Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C-A03CA Intel Core i7 3517UM 8GB 256GB SSD 15IN Windows 8 Ultrabook Black
Cons:Not an IPS screen like the 13"
Pros:Unibody, slim profile, thin display bezel Comment:
The best Windows Ultrabook on the market. Too bad the display is not IPS. Rumors of a high-res IPS version coming, but don't know when. Very fast ultrabook with i7 and SSD. |
A great ultrabook by Samsung. Really good build and quality
