Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 VAPOR-X Battlestations Edition 1GB GDDR5 HDMI DVI VGA PCI-E Lite Video Card
Cons:Consumes a lot of power, and still generates some heat in the case.
Pros:Quiet and powerful. Modest overclock (875/1050) right out of the box. |
One of my Xfired 3870's bit the dust, so I bought this Vapor-X 4890 and pulled out both the 3870's. My system booted and posted with no problems (both Vista64 and WinXP - dual boot), I installed the latest Catalyst drivers, and I was off to the races. This puppy is QUIET, even under full load. I messed around with the clock speeds, and ran it briefly at 950/1150, but haven't done any stress tests on it yet. I'm happy for now leaving it at the default core and memory (875/1050). It needs two 6-pin power connectors, so be forewarned. Looking at my CPU core temps, I think this 4890 is radiating more heat into my case than the two 3870's, so I will be keeping an eye on my CPU Core temps (might have to back down on my Q6600 overclock). 3dmark06 score 15700 at default settings.System info - ASUS Maximus Formula moboQ6600 running at 3.0 GHz and stock voltageCorsair 620W psu4 gigs OCZ RAM22 inch monitor 1680 x 1050Lian Li PC65U caseetcWorth the premium for the quiet cooling system.
