If it is your dream to bleed and sweat while building a rig then this is the cooler for you! I've installed scythe's before but this one takes the cake. The amd mounting system for it looks alright but because I belong to team blue I was left with a bloody knuckle and a sweaty brow by the time I BOLTED this thing to my board. Cons:Mounting could be better.
Pros:Huge cooling for the money! Tried it out as a passive cooler for an e8400, and it was better than the stock copper base cooler. Comment:
It really does work well, but you have to watch the mounting on this thing. It can warp a motherboard. I had to swap motherboards for it to work. If you have the patience, and the time, and mount it perfectly, it is very effective. |

Ordered this bad boy for one of my computers. It fits well but after few tweaks inside my computer despite the low profile RAM it takes up a lot of space. Its very quiet and with the fan controller it gives an advantage. Have overclocked my i5 2500K to 4.0Ghz and its perfectly fine temp wise. |

I purchased this to replace the stock Intel HSF for a Core2Duo in my server. I wanted something that could operate passively if required, and in this case, it worked perfectly! My Core2Duo operated at 34'C with the Intel HSF, and with this cooler, I have 28'C, WITHOUT A FAN! |
Excellent cooler. I had never installed an aftermarket cooler like this before, and it was nowhere near as difficult as some people made it out to be. It still took me a while, and removing the motherboard was a bit of a pain. At the lowest fan setting, the cooler is completely quiet, and my overclocked Haswell cpu dropped from 90C at load to 50C, and from 55C at idle to 23C. An excellent value for the money as long as you have the clearance in your case to accommodate the size. Also, you might want to install your RAM in the slot under the heatsink if you think you might want to add more ram at a later date.
