It's pretty quick for a 5400RPM drive. You can actually remove the USB-SATA adapter from the drive and use it to connect to other drives or if you can plug it in to your computer's (e)sata interface. It's quiet, doesn't get too hot. Overall decent product, this is the second one I'm buying.

For use as a backup drive, I upgraded from a WD Elements SE 500 GB drive to this one.This one is somewhat faster - it benchmarks at 83.3 MB/s average read, 66.1 MB/s average write. The WD benchmarked at 69.5 MB/s read, 73.1 MB/s average write. Latency was 16.93 ms for this Seagate vs. 17.91 ms for the WD.It's quite quiet, although there's definitely a low clicking on write. It doesn't get that warm but there is a hotter spot near the drive access light - this is probably the USB - SATA converter chip.Speaking of the drive access light, I wish Seagate would use a proper light that flashes on drive access. I have another Seagate external drive and this one behaves identically - rather than the light flashing on drive activity, it just slowly pulses. It's hard to tell at a glance what the drive is doing, you have to watch for the pulse and it's somewhat subtle.I like Seagate's new "USM" idea, where the bare drive is encased with the SATA ports exposed, then a docking, removable converter piece is connected. This allows easy conversion to a Firewire 800 or a Thunderbolt interface - just buy the converter piece. I wish there were eSATA converters as well, but the best solution by far is to dock the drive without the converter piece into a docking station like this:http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=65707- it's an Antec USM docking station which uses a 5.25" external drive slot to interface the drive directly to the motherboard via SATA.A very nice drive, and here's hoping we see more USM products. Produit de bonne qualité comme on peut s'y attendre avec Seagate. Les taux de transfert sont à la hauteur et le design est relativement agréable. Par contre, le cable USB fourni est trop court à mon goût !

This is great as a small solution for backing up your system. When I was first going to buy it, one of the reasons was because it looked very sleek with a metal-like finish. It's actually very plastic-y feeling to the touch which was a bit disappointing, but otherwise a very nice product.

I was able to back up several gbs of data fairly quickly and restore it after a system reformat. Well worth the price when it was on sale.

Really nice portable notebook drive. I love the finish on the case. A little worried that the adapter connection to the hard drive might get loose over time, but other then that it is an awesome product. If i have the chance, i'll probably purchase another in the future.

I bought this to back up my files and bring them off-site so the size and portability of this drive is great. I have a seagate drive that outlasted my NaS unit so I trust that this will also be reliable. Great looking product and a great price at $70.

Pour faire des transferts et backup de disques durs temporaires ce disque est une très bonne affaire à 73.49$. Le taux de transfert mesuré est de 98MB/s en écriture et de 116 MB/s en lecture avec un fichier de 6GB (à partir et vers un disque SSD).
