Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:SATA III has no relevance to platter based hard drives, unless 20k+ RPM is implemented, platters are at a plateau. Then comes data errors at that speed.
Pros:Updated interface port.Fast platter drive. |

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:None
Pros:- Quiet- Half height- Price- Single platter design (less moving parts) Comment:
The drive is not quite as fast or quiet as my 500GB Western Digital Black drive, but I am glad I avoided the problem prone 7200.11 Seagate Barracuda drives. |

Cons:First one I received was a dud
Pros:Works greatQuietGood price Comment:
This is a great HD. Even though the first one I was shipped was a dud (Win7 install thought it was 3.9GB and it took forever to initialize) the replacement has been flawless. |

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:Have had issues with seagates recently dying within 30 days.
Pros:Quiet, good value Comment:
I've been a big seagate fan for years however lately ran into either some really bad luck or possibly seagates are droppying in quality. I've purchased 4 seagates recently, 1 of which failed within 30 days and a 2nd which failed just after the 30 day window. |

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
n/a
Pros: Cheap, quality performance Comment:
Bought four of these and placed them in RAID-10, works great. They don't make a lot of noise and NCQ is fantastic for when you're multi-tasking with files. Think streaming videos, while downloading, gaming, and transferring files all simultaneously... without lagging the system.Would recommend this over the ST3500418AS for NCQ. Don't know why more people don't go for this.Recommended! |

Cons:
Not super fast, but for the price it's good.
Pros: Inexpensive and works well Comment:
Bought this for my linux build, it was on sale for $29.99. So far it has given me no issues and seems to work well. For $29.99 I would definitely purchase again. |

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
none
Pros: It works, no hiccups. Comment:
I price matched to 34.99 and was the cheapest I could get. 500gb is enough for normal everyday user. It is too small for gaming and other sort of things though. It is a good drive without hiccups, for about 10 dollars more, you can get a 1tb. |

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
None for now
Pros: Fast read/write for HDD Comment:
Price was good when it was $30.Its a bit louder than my old Hitachi drive, but read/write speed is much faster than the previous one and its not too much louder so its ok. Would purchase again if it goes less than $30 again and the drive survives. |

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
Slow....?
Pros: Quiet. It works as it should Comment:
Much more quiet than my 5years old WD SE16 250Gb but NOT SILENT like some people claim. But somehow slower to load windows 7 Ultimate exact clone from old WD drive. Am a bit disappoint because I was looking to increase windows load time by at least a little bit... |

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Cons:
Not an SSD, and for users wanting instant application launch times and uber fast boots, you can't compare this to an SSD.For cost-conscious users (99% of PC users out there), this drive is perfect. For tech-heads like me, I much prefer an SSD for the boot drive, and a couple of these (or the 1TB version) for data storage.
Pros: A minor improvement over the 3GB/s version, but it does bench slightly higher than the older version. This drive is still one of the best deals out there for a large, fast, stable boot drive. This 500GB model is a 1-platter design, that makes it thinner, quieter, and more reliable than just about any other platter-based hard drive out there. Comment:
This is my favourite hard drive for new PC builds. The 500GB 7200.12 is proving to be super reliable so far, I can't remember if any I've installed have developed any reallocated sectors yet -- a big improvement over older Seagate and WD drives. For 40-50 bucks, you get a hard drive that's one of the fastest, quietest, coolest running 3.5" HDD's. It's thin too!Seagate had its reputation badly tarnished by the unreliability of a few of the 7200.11 drives (the 1TB and 1.5TB versions primarily; both were 4-platter designs) - so much so that for their 7200.12 series, they only make them with 1 or 2 platters. Seagate's work has paid off - this 7200.12 drive is fabulously reliable. I've had one drive out of about 50 with an issue - it was noisy and worked slower than usual. However, even that one still worked, and I RMA'ed it for a new drive that works great. |

Cons:

Pros: My computer is now zippy!Fast hard driveVery, very quiet tooNice small form factorFeels very solid for a hard drive Comment:
Great purchase. Would buy more if I had more cashola.7 stars? |
Its a hard drive, it works as advertised, and it is very good price. I get these all the time. I am a WD buy typically, but when you can get 2 of these for the cost of 1 WD, who cares.
