Comment:
When working this is a solid drive for the cost. Arrived with impact damage to the sata power connector. The static bag showed harm in the similar spot. There was no harm to the bubble wrap of box. All tough drive models, from all makers can arrive doa, get damaged in shipping, or just be defective. The superior the manufacturer, the lower the rate of failure. This was a shipping/Handling issue either on the aspect of new egg or the Mfg. The missing eggs are due to that not excellent of the drive.

Rapid drive. two Drives out of 3 dead. Each lasted about a month. They have been both well cooled. Never in my lifetime would I think about going back to WD drives. Glad I have a raid mirror.

None Drive was DOA - attempted it in two various computer systems plus an external enclosure - absolutely nothing.I have to spend the shipping to return a solution that is defective??? TERRIBLE. I'll take it up with my credit card corporation. I've generally bought Western Digital in the previous but this drive was on sale - guess you get what you spend for.

Fairly low cost. Haven't had any difficulties so far. None, actually. Not yet, anyway. I purchased this drive particularly to just set up my OS and points like web browsers and text editors. I set up other items (games and whatnot) on yet another drive. Rather of just putting every little thing on one 1TB drive, splitting issues away from your OS means if a single drive fails, you don't shed Everything.

Fast, quiet, doesn't get also hot. Consistently reputable. Not as low $/gb as more substantial drives. Only 8MB cache. I've order possibly 25-30 of these drives and haven't had one particular fail however. They're already better than the WD Blue i have replaced a few months ago

Indeed very quickly. HD Tach showed 117.6 MB/s average read. That's within three% of my Spinpoint F3s. Also pretty low vibration, much lower than my F3s. And low seek noise, which I admit does not bother me in general. Continual high-pitched whine, noticeable various feet away. Reminds me of what HDs sounded like just before fluid bearing motors, even though not that loud. By comparison, my Spinpoint F3s spin practically silently, as does my older single-platter 7200.ten. You have to place your ear up to them to detect the noise. So, as soon as again, the annoying reality of HD noise: there's acoustic noise and vibration noise, which is arguably much worse, mainly because it can turn your situation into a sound (noise) program. My acoustically silent F3s create so substantially vibration and audible situation resonance that I have had to spot them on low-density foam to isolate it. (Door climate stripping performs nicely.) This must not be required with these Seagate 7200.12s, IMO; loose screws really should due fine. Nevertheless, I don't know yet how to lower the high-pitched whine with no blocking air flow. Might just have to reside with it, which annoys me.

Not too shabby on speed, but additional importantly they're nevertheless going strong right after a couple of months. I bought a pair of these to run as RAID 1 (mirrored) in a server and they undoubtedly retain up. It's operating Windows Server 2003 with a fantastic quantity of solutions (a lot by some standards), yet it boots in just about no time flat...impressive. None so far. I'm hoping none in the future. I'm a small worried about the longevity of the drives. I have noticed a lot much more criticism of Seagate and a lot far more negative evaluations due to the fact current adjustments in the business, so I'm guessing that these changes are getting really an influence.I've been a lot more of a Seagate SCSI HDD user than desktop till just lately. They've often been a excellent brand; but that also was server equipment, major distinction from desktop. I have Seagate server drives that have virtually passed the 100,000 hour mark (some probably have)...and for individuals of you who did the math, yes, that seriously is around 11 years of total power-on time. Most of these have been retired with my new servers, but I feel you get the point.

Rapid small drive when it performs. Died immediately after three months of service in a new build for a customer. This is just ridiculous. I am sitting on 3 dead / dying Seagate drives as I write this. two Desktop & 1 Laptop. After being my HDD provider of decision is now decreased to my not even taking any possibilities on any drive they make. I just can't danger this with my consumers.

Not a bad price for a decently fast drive. Just ordered 4 of them, they were nicely packed and the box wasn't broken but 2 of them were DOA. I have been employing these drives for quite some time now and I RMA around 35% of them fresh out of the bag. I need to also note that I use around 25-30 a month.

I mounted it, plugged it in, and booted and it worked fine. I don't seriously need to have a ton of storage, so this was a great, low-cost purchase for my build. None. I feel like the worst that can occur with these is getting a DOA, which didn't come about, so I'm content.

Was comparatively rapidly and worked fine for the three months prior to it died. Died within 3 months. Produced odd noises just before it died. Be careful of Seagate. I have purchased 5 different HDs from them and the most they have gone without dying is 1 year.
