i have 4 of these in a software program raid6 on linux3 of them performed peak read above 105mb/s1 scored 125mb/s peakalso i purchased another 1 that was of a newer manufacturing date that scored peak 140mb/ssingle platter style, light, height is less than most HDD, temperatures are particularly cool compared to most multi-platter hdd newegg does not ship sata cables or boxesmine are occasionally atleast in boxes or are in cardboard slots if i needed a sata cable that adds ŭ price to my purchasesbut atleast that saves price on these other people where i dont will need even a lot more sata cables laying about

Just got it these days. So far so great, had some difficulty obtaining vista to recognize it but that was just lead to I'm not a pro however :P Doesn't come with cage mounting screws. I'm using this drive for secondary storage and great point my major had 4 mounting screws. I just took off two on my major and employed them on this one (one screw diagonal on every side). Maybe I really should have gotten a better SATA adapter for this, I bought a 1.5 gb/s adapter for the drive and it's taking forever to move my 90-some films more than to the new drive. :(

Low-cost, trustworthy drive. Ideal for upgrading/repairing Out Of Warranty units, or as a second drive. Decent warranty for a HDD as properly. Very advise. None so far. Would be nice if rails/cage could be supplied for an extra price. This by no implies is any sort of unfavorable, just a believed.

Works excellent with Windows XP. There is an obscure incompatibility among this disk drive, a Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 motherboard (purchased numerous years ago from NewEgg), and Windows Vistaǝ. The drive/motherboard mixture operates appropriately when booting below Windows XP, but blue-screens in the course of Windows Vistaǝ start out-up. Disconnecting the disk fixes the blue-screen. Presumably it works fine with other motherboards.

Great sizeFantastic construction I bought this at what I thought was a good value, but a few days later there had been larger 鶀GBs) for slightly less.Doesn't come with screws to mount in a drive cage. Luckily my case had a lot of added hardware. I bought this as a program drive for a media server I'm building, given that I don't want the OS on my information drives. It's also tricky to uncover a modest, inexpensive drive these days.

The drive is slimmer than earlier Seagate drives of the identical 250GB capacity. Really should assist with airflow.five eggs to NewEgg. Wonderful shipping and service by NewEgg. Had it the next day. Drive runs fast and rather. Had to replace drive after 6 months drive failed , ร dollars to rma to Seagate. The replaced drive appears to be operating fine, immediately after a different six months hopefully it stays like that Seagate replaced the drive quickly, never ever had to rma anything until this I believe a tiny bit of QA at the factory could keep this stuff from happening.

Tripled the storage of the personal computer I rebuilt to give to a relative. Had to experiment to get it to perform in old Athlon XP2600 technique running Windows XP. ASROCK SATA150 motherboard. Had to use the limiting jumper for Windows install, then take it off to get it to boot immediately after that.

Shiny! Dead's not adequate? Nicely...not completely. It's alive adequate to make a really faint beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep / click / beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep I cringe just about every time I have to get a SATA drive from *any* manufacturer. It doesn't seem to matter which a single, it's a 50኎ gamble as to how long it will last. Assuming it's any good to start with. I bought a 1TB Seagate 30 days ago, and it died last night. Also late to RMA it by way of Newegg.
