Functions. Nearly non-existent spin noise. Thin, light, and energy effective. All for a excellent price tag. I replaced a two year old 7200.ten, and the access noise (typical hard drive fast clicking noise) is actually louder than my old 7200.10. It's nonetheless very quiet general, but I was not expecting to go up in volume with a drive two generations newer. Fortunately the spin noise is particularly quiet and the drive is a lot more or much less silent when it's not being heavily accessed. My drive shipped with CC44 firmware, but the most up-to-date firmware available on Seagate's web-site is CC3e - which looks to be newer than CC44 despite getting numbered reduce. There are discussions dating several months ago comparing the CC44 firmware to CC34ቿ firmware and it's noted that the CC44 firmware decreased the drive's overall performance (in access occasions at least) and sank it fairly far from its advertised seek overall performance.I don't know no matter whether I need to stick with the CC44 firmware and "upgrade" to the CC3e and acquiring decent information from Seagate's internet site or forums is an physical exercise in futility. I was hoping to see a tiny improvement in overall performance more than my 7200.ten, but it's pretty a lot performing the precise very same in real globe apps. This is ok even though, as it's not the major explanation I got the drive. To my ears at least, Seagates are the quietest 7200RPM drives out there - even if this one is a little louder than my 7200.10 |

I have installed two of these drives internally and am making use of a single as an application drive and a single as a scratch drive for Photoshop. Access occasions have been great and everything has been operating flawlessly with my installation of Windows 7.These drives are quite quiet and I can barely hear them in my case (build information integrated beneath). None encountered so far. Keep in mind to order a SATA II data cable in order to be in a position to connect this drive to your motherboard. The drive is shipped bare as it is an OEM solution.Bear in mind to check that you have an accessible SATA energy connection from your computer system's internal power supply so that you can energy this drive. You can also order a four-pin Computer energy to SATA adaptor cable if necessary.Develop details:- Intel i7-860 (quad-core 2.8GHz)- Intel P55 ATX motherboard (DP55KG)- 8GB RAM (DDR3 1333 dual-channel)- Radeon 4870 video card 鹀MB)- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 320GB internal really hard drives RPM) (x2 for separate application and scratch disks)- Seagate Barracuda LP 1TB internal hard drives RPM) (x2 in RAID 1 configuration)- Plextor 24x DVD/CD writer (PX-880SA)- AFT PRO-35U all-in-one USB 2. card reader- Corsair 450W energy supply (CMPSU-450VX)- Antec P183 case- Windows 7 |

Paperweight Dead on arrival, ordered all new hardware/case. Almost everything was fine till I turned on my machine and no difficult drive could be located. Turns out it was dead, would not spin.. But emitted heat, good hand warmer. Returning it tomorrow. I will under no circumstances go with seagate yet again, initial and last expertise. |

Excellent valueQuietSensible overall performance It's just a common desktop difficult drive Got this on sale. It's a spare in situation any of my customers have a tough drive failure. I usually do some testing to make confident a tough drive isn't DOA. This 1 tested out fine. No errors, no difficulties, and it's extremely quiet. For the value it's a extremely excellent mainstream enterprise desktop difficult drive. If you're storing vital facts on it then I generally advise two drives in RAID 1. It appears that none of the HDD manufacturers is 100% trusted anymore. |

Straight away appropriate out of the box a really trustworthy drive at a killer price. None to report I use this as my major tricky drive, so it didn't want to be outrageously huge. The only thing that sits on right here is Win7 Pro 64bit and numerous applications and files in transfer in between it and my secondary drive. |

Have two of these in a Raid . Run fantastic, solid performance. Swapped out for older Seagate 250s that had been themselves solid. I have these operating Win 7 with a AMD quad core. They aren't SSD speed, but they are quiet, no seek sounds or something. Run cool, no excess heat. five.9 rating from Win7 testing. None hence far. Seagate has excellent consumer service (from my encounter) so if there is a challenge, I'm sure to get taken care of. This is not my three or 4th Seagate hard drive. I personal 10 Seagate drives with only 1 ever getting a challenge, but Client Service at Seagate was in a position to get me going quickly. I also own 2 WD Green Drives, but compared to my Seagate LPs, the WDs are slow and noisy. A loyal Seagate owner I shall stay. |

I was shocked at how thin and light this thing was out of the box. I've had it operating now for just over a week, and it is just as quiet, fast and cool as promised. I'm organizing on getting a different 1 of these for a data drive. I utilised to be strictly WD, but Seagate has hit a homerun with this 1. I didn't buy two at once. We'll see how it continues to carry out. But so far I'm happy with the drive. |
