RANDOLPH_C@NCIX Rating: Review Date: 01/08/14	Seagate Expansion 2TB 3.5IN USB3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive - Black Cons:no power button, no vertical stand Pros:fast,quiet works as expected Comment: great works with xp no drivers needed, as fast as my older 7200rpm external drive, after 1hr copying barely got hot, runs very quiet, only issue NO off button, so to disconnect for extended periods between backups, first tell windows to safely disconnect the drive letters, then must disconnect usb from computer, then disconnect external power supply, doesnt have stand but so small it fits anywhere laying down, i would definitely buy again

Just like other external hard drives, it requires an outlet for power. The sale price now is almost as good as I got mine on boxing day. Seagate has been a reliable company and have good faith in it not randomly dying while in use.

Niavlyscire@NCIX Rating: Review Date: 12/03/12	Seagate Expansion 2TB 3.5IN USB3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive - Black Cons:- Unusual USB plug (on the side that plugs into the drive)- Needs power supply for power Pros:- 2Tb and max read/write a 140Mb/s- Great price (got it for $90 after taxes & shipping)- USB 3.0- Looks good (if you like charcoal grey) Comment: This is a great external drive especially for $90. The speeds with USB3.0 I noticed maxed at 140MB/s, which is very nice.The only downsides: the drive end of the USB plug is a Micro-B USB 3.0 plug (haven't seen this until now), and the drive needs it's power supply for power (unlike smaller drives that get power through USB only).Neither of those are big issues, so I'd definitely recommend this drive if you can get a good price on it.
