Seagate Expansion 5TB USB3 Desktop External Hard Drive Black
Cons:a bit nosier than the earlier drives, when the head is seeking. The warranty is a bit on the weak side and 5TB is a lot to lose.
Pros:large storage space and great price, USB 3.0 |

Seagate Expansion 5TB USB3 Desktop External Hard Drive Black
Cons:No vertical placement stand
Pros:Huge capacity, reasonably fast with USB 3 Comment:
Bought this drive to augment and backup 3 laptops and store media. Works well and decently fast with USB 3 (throughput of around 60 MB/s). Only drawback is no stand for vertical placement of the drive. All you get is the drive in a basic black case, USB 3 cable and power supply. |

Seagate Expansion 5TB USB3 Desktop External Hard Drive Black
Cons:None
Pros:5 TB of space Comment:
Bought this to replace 2 2tb drivesWorks as advertized and does the job needed. Transfer speeds are good.Hoping it will not wipe out as it is full and it would be a shame to lose all this data.Would be nice if the leds could be turned off. |

Seagate Expansion 5TB USB3 Desktop External Hard Drive Black
Cons:- No power switch (Where is the switch D: !!)- Takes a bit longer to spin up (I have 5 other external hard drives which takes 1-2 seconds to be ready)
Pros:+ Very inexpensive considering it is 5TB+ From reliable company+ Fast enough+ Sleek design with tiny blue LED as activity indicator+ Runs warm (not hot) Comment:
I have been using this Seagate external drive for sometime now as a backup for my other external hard drives. Many job is to archive all the data from other external drives in case other drives fails. The speed of transfer is acceptable through USB3.0. The real (main) complaint is that there is no power switch. It will not stay on and spin when USB is unplugged. If I ever need to plug this back & forth with other computers, this thing will just go nuts. Since this is targeted at a very reasonable price, I can understand the fact they cheap-ed out on some extras, but they should have just let it be present on all of their external drives. |

Seagate Expansion 5TB USB3 Desktop External Hard Drive Black
Cons:3.5" size, need power adapter
Pros:Cheap, lots of storage Comment:
Overall, when purchased on sale, this drive offers a great bang for your buck. It'll be a while until 5tb drives come out in a 2.5" format, but this is a great drive for storing lots of media. |

Seagate Expansion 5TB USB3 Desktop External Hard Drive Black
Cons:sucks that it still has to be powered by a power brick
Pros:-lots of storage. 5tb is more than enough for what i need it to be-quiet-power brick isnt too big and its relatively slim Comment:
Great drive nevertheless. serves me well for 1080p movies |
all in all, a large hard drive for storing all of your files, but I don't suggest using this hard drive for back up purposes. 1 year warranty is the usual these days for Seagate hard drives, but who is actually going to claim it anyways? For my purposes of storing video files, it is perfect.
