Look for Green
Comment:
This is not about the quality of this drive, but it is about what it lacks. The best of these drives are Green, they use very little power and shutdown when nobody is accessing the data. If you use this for saving video from your media PC, do you really want it to run day and night while your Media PC is doing nothing? Bigger is better, but not all drives are created equal. Find a Green drive and watch these energy hogs drop in price until they are gone. |

Seagate Continues to RULE SUPREME.
Comment:
well as you might find out from doing ANY research on Seagate drive, they are consistently the most cost effective, longest lasting (verified by their MTBF rating being higher than ANY OTHER DRIVE Manufacturer)and finally, find another drive that gives you a 5 year replacement guarantee. Seagate has ALWAYS set the STANDARD by witch ALL drives are measured. |

Works for me
Comment:
I had the 500M, it worked really good, not I am going with the 2T. so far no problems, 2T is huge and that is enough space to even back up my Vista PC before converting it to Windows 7. The only drives i have really had a problem with lately are non-seagate drives. I only buy seagate now... |

Owner Experiance
Comment:
I'd just like to say that I have three FreeAgent external disc drives, (500GB,500 GB & 1000GB), and have never had any trouble whatsoever with them. They are not only stylish, but totally reliable. |

Horrible.
Comment:
Seagate has been a continual disapoint in me losing my data, i don't recommend any of their external harddrives due to consistent failure ( be sure to do your research ) |
After 3 days of owning it and transferring many GBs of data the arm started to get really loud. Called seagate and they recommended returning it so I did. They had no problem with exchanging it.
