Sennheiser HD 218 502760 Over the Ear Headphones
Cons:Needs 'breaking in' to hear full sound potentialNeeds a decent amount of power to drive headphones and to get a good sound.
Pros:PriceSound is pretty decent for the priceNot bad sound isolation |
Although the impendance for these headphones is rated at 24 ohms, on my usually powerful off-brand mp3 player, the sound was anemic. Using a more powerful headphone amp through a decent sound card like Auzentech or even a Soundblaster Titanium, or an iPod, the sound improves considerably.A note about headphones. While some have the immediate wow factor to them, many headphones sometimes needs a period of time where they are broken in, sorta like a stretching exercise so that the diaphragms (the bubbly thingy that make the noise by vibrating at various frequencies like speakers do) can get more flexibility. That flexibility helps with sound quality and makes the bass and the treble more accurate (meaning, deeper and crisper) Usually, it takes something like 24 to 48 hours of constant playing at a moderately high volume (not full blast, mind you) to do this. This doesn't always work, though. Some headphones are beyond help to begin with. These headphones are good for it, but they do need the working in period for them to shine.I bought these for my nephew, and he likes them. I do prefer my Sennheiser PX-100s, though. These headphones are good, but again, they need a little time to be broken in.
