Shuttle SG31G2V2 Intel Socket T(LGA775) Barebone
Cons:Horrible BIOS, underclocks CPU, won't take 4GB RAM
Pros:Small and... that's about it Comment:
This thing is a head ache. I got 2x 2GB RAM sticks for it, but when i put both in, it would fail a memory test. I though it was one of the sticks or maybe a slot, but nope, both sticks checked out ok in either slot on their own, but put em both in and BAM, RAM errors. I have 2 CPU's laying around and tried both, and in both cases it underclocked them. My E6300 is supposed to be a 2.8 but gets underclocked to 2.1 and my Q6600 is supposed to be a 2.4 but gets knocked down to a 1.8. I put on the latest BIOS which did not help either situation at all. I would not buy this if I were you. |

Built for a Customer who wanted a very small footprint, but a "Regular PC" not the new Atom units. This unit fit the bill completely. This was for a home office application.built with an Intel 8400 Core 2 Duo (3.0 Gig) processeor4 gig of Kingston HyperX PC2-6400 RAMSeagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA2 Hard drive.WinXP Pro.He runs Office 2007, Adobe Photoshop, and a variety of smaller apps simultaneously.Regular internet & email usage. No problems encountered in the build of the last couple of weeks of operation. No Games will be run on this computer.Have Purchased and "Open Box" of the same unit to build for my Daughter. Will do the same hardware installation.I built a similar unit for my eldest daughter 5 years ago.Still running strong, no Hardware failures. For a General family use computer that will not be running high end games, this is a very worthwhile PC to buildShe will be running |
This was purchased for a gateway purpose. It works very well, and was easy to work in. I like the small size. The biggest issue I would have I guess is the very small power supply of 240 watts. This thing has a 16x pcie slot... would be supper for a tiny lan case.....except for the power supply.
