Shuttle XS35 Intel Atom D510 1.66GHz Intel NM10 Intel GMA 3150 Barebone
Comment:
Silent (with SSD), little, low energy usage, economical Drivers for linux only obtainable in extremely new OSs (Ubuntu 10.10+), somewhat slow, VGA only means that newer monitors cannot be applied. This computer has made an exceptional server. It is adequately highly effective, uses quite little power, and is silent. Extremely encouraged for individuals building an mp3/email/granny box or a low-finish server.

Loaded with Ubuntu, it's lean and quickly. Not a media powerhouse, but with Chromium browser it's an exceptional internet box. Can't beat the price tag. None

Nice design, easy to open and install hd/ram/dvd. The provided BIOS does not have the "Restore power immediately after AC loss" selection, meaning it's useless if you want to turn this into a mini server -- which I was planning to. (There's a BIOS upgrade but it's mentioned not to supply this solution, it's just a wifi fix.) Also newegg doesn't have a refund policy on this (only a limited exchange policy).

Basic to set up. 5 USB ports. Built-in Wifi card. No printed manual. Does not support two monitors. I'm employing this to run Quickbooks P.O.S.-9 on WinXP. With a minimal install and turning off all un-needed services, this thing flies with 1G RAM.For testing, I initially installed Mandriva Linux 2010.2 on it, and that OS was quick as effectively, but did not recognize the Wifi device. As a linux desktop, I would get the XS35GT for the nvidia graphics (and it would be good if it had a fundtional second DVI output). But this model would make a fantastic Linux desktop if you didn't will need but one monitor and no accellerated graphics (I consider that XiG makes an X server for the Intel chip).

It is really tiny. A bit thinner and a bit longer than a regular usb cdrom. Plays back video incredibly nicely. Netflix ran effectively but not perfectly on it. I have windows XP pro installed, I assume windows 7 may well execute a bit superior on it. Runs XP really properly even with all the "pretty" graphics stuff turned on. Shuttle says there is an optional 2nd harddrive bracket but they are not selling it in the US. This annoyed me mainly because I wanted to be in a position to use a 2nd drive in it. I'm nonetheless trying to uncover a resolution for this. It produces a decent quantity of heat, much less than a 330. You may possibly have trouble with the nic in linux, the driver is new and not included typically. JMicron does offer you a linux driver. For the price tag it is a excellent machine.

Modest I added a 8GB solid state drive and 1GB ram, Tried to install CentOS, no drivers for the jmircron ethernet. Very same for Ubuntu Server same matter no drivers for the Ethernet. Completely frustrating , I spent 3 days trying to get it work with Linux nothing at all. Restricted Return, I cant even refund it, Dollars gone, what a waste. Thanks Newegg and Shuttle, I wont be obtaining from either of you again. I was ripped off, piece of garbage and no return. Buyer beware especially if you attempt to run Linux on this.

incredibly quite tiny, light, superior good quality on just about every part. dual core with hyperthreading. D510 atom is a newer atom processor greater then 330 and so on. gets pretty hot. idles about 85C max load 97C. it has a greater temp capacity than reg cpu's tho it can reach 125C.The intel gma graphics is horrible lags in windows 7 when moving windows about. i would by no means obtain this 1 once more just get the nvidia ION graphics version. also the wireless mini pci-e card that came with it does not function at all, system doesnt even detect it whatsoever. but i dont need to have wireless and in no way will for this system so oh well. get the ion version!!!!! intel gma is horrible lags in win7 a bit. also the ion heatsink is on other side of the atom cpu/intel gpu so it will create much less heat on that single heatsink.Currnetly newegg does not sell the total barebone version (like this one, no hdd no odd no memory) of the ION version. the ion version consists of memory dvd rw and a 500gb hd. im waiting for them to put out a barebone i dont want a 500gb hd i want an ssd and i want g-skill memory.

I bought this for a small Fedora Linux workstation at work. I really like it. Used G.Skill 2GB 200pin DDR2 800 RAM, a WD 320GB Scorpio blue SATA Drive, and a LiteOn Slim SATA DVD Burner! This machine is fantastic. I don't mind Intel Graphics, because of the Fedora support for this chip-set, and the truth that it is not a Media Center PC. Shuttles create quality is extremely good, the case looks really excellent, the Directions were not essential but well written, and Shuttles support is excellent. Looks extremely good, challenging to judge from the picture. Also it is fanless, but it don't get really hot even with heavy usage. Plenty of USB's and front built in media reader is very good and included built in Wifi is a bonus. External Power adapter is also pretty little (Think five of them could fit into the old mac mini's). Fit and finish on this unit is really good, I adore it. Didn't come with the VESA mount? I referred to as Shuttle to come across out what was going on with my initial Challenging Drive (Seemingly it wasn't acquiring enough power), it was DOA but just sufficient so that it was acting funny, the tech support there per usual was actually nice and beneficial, and I even got a BIOS revision to control the internal Wifi adapter (Set it to often on rather then on by loading up the software program in Windows) version 1.09. It was simple to flash it. Ok So I bought a Seagate 320GB SATA drive at the store, I couldn't wait to ship a new one out... Shuttle still rocks!
