Quiet, adjustable (external control), moves air Breaks a lot earlier than it should. Rubbing now on the frame. Will not turn. Caused complications with my RAID (overheating). Don't purchase this fan.

I have bought a lot of these fans...they work. Good air flow, quite quiet, dependable. I have two of them that have been in a case for 2 1ǘ years and are still as quiet as when I installed them. None however...don't expect any. Remember: fan air volume is related to rpm and diameter...the bigger the diameter the far more the flow for the very same rpm...the higher the rpm the noiser the fan. It's a trade off. These fans are good. Buy them.

they move air, which is fortunate for me, given that i purchased them to do just that, but.... no matter what orientation, these factors are LOUD, like seriously friggin' loud, even just turned on outside of the case. oh, and DO NOT mount them upside-down, simply because instead of the manufacturer generating them slightly thinner LIKE ALL OTHER MANUFACTURER'S FANS, they protrude correct to the edge, which indicates any mounted upside more than metal instantly gets a loud plastic-on-metal screeching noise. DO NOT Buy!

They move a lot of air for the amount of noise they create. I bought about 30 of these when making a cluster. 50% died inside the initially year and a few far more died the next year. Silenx didn't appear bothered by this when I talked to their tech support and my only recourse was to purchase new fans (so I purchased anything else).

Replaced the side 120mm fan in my case with this one. I can lastly sleep at night even though my pc is on at night. I by no means bother to turn off my machine due to the fact im constantly downloading stuff. These fan would work excellent for those who need to sleep at night! Color's kinda nasty. I would like to see some clear or black fans.

Excellent fan! Amazingly quiet. Not as significantly air flow as replaced fan, but the lack of noise makes up the difference. I replaced a set of Antec Tornados with a set of Silenx 120s. The air flow was remarkable with the Antec fans, but the noise was too considerably. The air flow with the Silenx fans is not as a lot, but the quietness of them makes up for the loss of air flow. Would advise to any person!

Quiet Poor life. Think the reviews. These die. I have two. 1 still works. The other started binding up 3 months ago and is now totally seized. Fan life was just over 1 year. I expected longer out of a 'premium expense' fan. Generics last as long (or longer) at 1ǚ the price.

Moves a lot of air Loud as hell!! It's rated 14 dBA but the noise level is far more like 50. I can hear the fan from 15 feet away. Noise level drops to about low 30s inside a case.

Shiny. Moves an ok amount of air. About as much as the stock fans that come with my antec 1200. Does not move as considerably as it says. Looks and feels like a children toy. Quite flimsy and delicate feeling. It's in there going now but as I stated, it doesn't move the kinda airflow they claim. I have fans on order already to replace it. I truly require to move a lot of air for a 3 way sli setup and these just do not cut it. 2x 470 super oc and a gtx 275.

I love how people throw #s about like they have a clue. These are quite quiet fans for the quantity of air they push. I have bought over 30 of them in diverse sizes and just about every 1 has been flawless. If you are going to say one thing certainly ridiculous (like 45Db) greater to not say anything. None Take one apart (not suggested for guarantees) and you will see a vastly superior assembly. Killer fans Period.

Good style I guess, not that it really matters for a case fan. Noisy and rattles. I purchased one and it rattled, so I exchanged for the same model. Similar issue. Very noisy. I have four fans ƓxAntec tri-cool and 1 Sythe) and this fan is the loudest.

Quiet Fan
Comment:
I purchased this fan to replace the fan in my computer's power supply. It runs very quietly and was a perfect fit in the mountings. The only thing is that my old power supply fan was two wires and this one is three. I had to use the adapter supplied with the fan to get it to work properly. I find the fan extremely quiet and smooth operating.

It's a fan
Comment:
It does what it should but beware the db rating is not true, while not overly loud it's bearing systems makes a subsonic type hum. If you like it extremely quiet pass this up. If you want something to move air, this will do it.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:None.

Pros:Quiet.High airflow.Includes silicone mounts.
Comment:
I bought this to replace a broken one that I had for a bit over 3 years. The photo is different than what the actual product looks like, it more of a metallic gray. It works quite well and is quiet which is why I got another. The current price is half of what it was when I got my first one, I recommend it if you looking for a quiet fan.

Fan works great, installs easy, moves tons of air, very quiet. also pretty darn quiet for a 120mm fan that moves 72 cfm of air.

Not as quiet as advertised
Comment:
I bought these fans to replace my stock case fans in an attempt to build a silent-ish PC. I have an Utra EVO case, and I must say the original case fans are much quieter. I could tell as soon as I booted it up that my system is louder. Just to make sure, I made recordings with my Shure mic and M-Audio FW410 of noise levels before and after this fan was installed... Silenx fan (rated at 14dB) is about 12 dB louder than the Ultra fan (rated at 33 dB). It definitely moves a lot more air than the Ultra fan, which reportedly moves 5 CFM more. It was able to hold a piece of paper against the grill with the suction from this fan. My case felt nice and chilly inside after installing two of these. LED looks cool in front grill. It would be easier to install these in an empty case with the silicon mounting plugs - this proved to be quite difficult in a case full of components. In the end I feel these fans are quality, but do not deliver in the lack-of-noise department.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:not the strongest airflow, but definitely the best for the noise produced

Pros:dead silent
Comment:
Been using 2 of the 120's for a year now as my case fans, never had heat problems, i don't need to create a wind tunnel in my pc, just move a decent amount of air without making very much noise, silenx does that.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:A little pricey

Pros:Quiet and pushes a good CFM.
Comment:
Great Fan. It's quieter than the antec fans that came with my "quiet" case. Can't complain with these fans except for the fact that they are a little expensive. Still worth the money though.

Comment:
I just finish installing this fan in my Antec Sonata, and it was a hard job. They (silent x) give you sillicon mounts to hold the fan to the case without vibration, and screw if sillicon mounts do not work with your case. Until there, every thing fine. The first problem I got is that the fan can't use the sillicon mounts, even if they advertise (with picture!) one the package that you can. The hole one the both side of the fan are united with a cylinder, so you can't put the sillicon mount in it or pull it with plier.Second problem, the screw are too big for my case, Antec Sonata, so I wasn't able to use the screw.I was able to fix it with the sillicon mount by sawing a part off of the cylinder and than I was able to mount the fan.I conclusion, I can add that it should not append that you have to mod a pc part to fix it, when it is suppose to be compatible. I will not buy silent x again just for that, I will have to see the product and be sure it fit before buying. They should fire the guy that design this, he can't do his job because this is just basic sens to make your product work and not be an assel to install.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:-can't monitor fan speed

Pros:-fairly quiet
Comment:
These fans don't make a whole lot of noise but they aren't quite silent either. If you listen carefully and close enough you can hear a slight hum from the motor and there is no way to check fan speed. Do they move 58cfm at 14dba? Hard to say. Are they worth the price? I'd say yes if you don't have a fan controller in your pc. However if you do have a fan controller then buying a cheaper fan and under volting it would probably be just as good.3.5/5

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:-cost-not effective if you only replace case fans (see summary)-only 2 pin despite being capable of 3-pin (see summary)

Pros:-very quiet-push plenty of air
Comment:
I bought a couple of these for my Antec P160 case, and I was extremely disappointed with the results. It didn't occur to me that I also needed to mod my PSU with silenX fans before I got the silencer I desired. Overall it cost me over $100 to stealth my case with these (had to buy another 80mm and another 92mm fan). They really are as quiet as it gets though. Don't listen to other ppl who tell you that coolermaster fans are as quiet as these if you turn the speed down. They're not. One of the real problems I have with these fans is that you can't control the speed without either doing a resistor mod, or putting them on a fan-only connector. They have another contact for the third wire, silenX has just decided to be cheap and decide not to give it to us.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:Does not work at 5V. Not as silent as the 80mm version. Whizzing noise a bit more apparent.

Pros:Decent quality, comes with rubber grommets and a 3pin->4pin wire.
Comment:
In a nutshell, this thing is very expensive for the quality of the piece, but you can easily get an Antec or Coolermaster and use it at 5V/7V and get approximately the same result.Does not feel like the actual force of a 80mm 58cfm, though probably because the fan is bigger and can push more air overall.

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:Not sure whether they are really pushing 58cfm

Pros:Crazily quiet
Comment:
Bought these fans off of a friend and I think they rule for what they do. They barely make a sound with the special bearing that is used. The bearing is magnetized which causes very little contact once the fan gets moving. Little contact = little noise = little wear. They do push quite a bit of air for the amount of noise they make but I don't know whether it's measureable up to the 58cfm that they are rated at. It maybe below 50 cfm but not much lower I think. Compared to the Vantec Stealths, these things are silent. What I don't know is what resistor the previous reviewer is talking aobut. I didn't notice any resistor in the package unless it was already on the fan. I'm running the fan right off the psu and it's still very quiet. This review was modfied by poster @ 10-08-04 07:19 PM
