SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:Not completely Silent. Can here the motor "wwwhhhirrrr".
Pros:Quieter than the Vantec Stealth 120mm Fan. Comment:
Anybody considering this SilenX fan, should INSTEAD buy the CoolerMaster 120mm fan as it pushes the same amount of air and makes ZERO engine noise (all you here literally is the wind blowing). If you need to really move air, then don't consider any of these. You're better off going for a high velocity 120mm fan that is controlled by a fanbus (fan speed controller). |

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:ExpensiveNot pushing much air (although it said 56CFM)Little "Push Force" to pierce the rad. (if you are using WC)Sleeved Power cable (black sleeved)
Pros:Very QuietVery little to none variation4 E.A.R. RUBBER FAN ISOLATORS included (yellow for me)Nice spec. (14dBa 56CFM)Very High quality Fan, V. Good overall finish.Very Thin. Comment:
I had 2 of these fans in my WaterCooling setup (placed on my rad.), they are really quiet. It makes no noise at all, even I have two of these. I just sit next to my computer, (less then 0.5m distance) I found it generate no noise at all (unless you put your ear next to the fans). I try turn down the speed from the fan controller, it generates even less, it is like totally silence. I can hear other 80mm fans blowing in my case, but not the SilenX fans. It generates very little to none variation, so you don't have to worry about the variation noise. In addition, e.a.r. rubber isolators are included if you concern the variation noise. However, I find it push little air, and the "pushing force" is not great enough to pierce my rad. That's mean the air will not "blow" far away in the case.Anyway, the bottom line is, it is an excellent product, buy it if you can afford it. |

SilenX IXP-74-14 Case Fan
Cons:- Expensive- Without the resistor that's included, they're loud. See more below- No RPM detector. It's the only flaw!- Took NCIX forever to get these so I had to buy them somewhere else :(
Pros:- Hyper silent- Push a lot of air considering they make no noticeable noise- Even better than Vantec Stealths. Actually, Stealths don't even compare... Comment:
I bought these fans because I wanted to silence my computer once and for all. My stock SLK3700AMB rear exhaust fan was giving out, and my Silent Boost fan was beginning to annoy me aswell. I spent the money to purchase these fans and what an investement! The two 120MM fans I'm using right now (front and rear) are using the included 7v resistor to run at the rated speed. I can't hear them unless I put my ear about a foot from my computer. And even then, I hear the air rushing past the blades. Not one peep from the motor!!!Now, I must warn you, you must use the resistor! If you don't, the fan runs at the full 12 volts fans should be normally fed. So in essence, you get a fan pushing under 100CFM!!! I calculated it mathematically: if 7/12 = 1800RPM, 58CFM, then 12/12 = 3000RPM, 99.4CFM. But even then, you don't hear the motor, just a lot of air rushing past the blades...Since I doubt the fan was built to withstand the speeds at 12v (3000RPM), I think it should remain at 7v.But seeing as I got way more than what I bargained for, I think the money spent was justified. I got a very quiet (almost inaudible) pair of fans that push a more than reasonable amount of air.I totally recommend this to anyone who's serious about quite computing. |
All in all id say this wasnt worth it. I didnt keep it in the end.(got a different case) But the thing tends to be overated
