SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB External
Cons:
Could be thinner and a little smaller, but since its light, its OK.
Pros: Light, therefore portable, looks good, has volume control and mute with the one button. |

Dis sound card is one of the best soundcards for the laptop, morever you can use it with desktop even by connecting through usb.Its really easy to install and is worth for the price,It has all the features that creative xtreme audio has.I have a logitech X-540,It works great, better sound and clearity.Morever it gives surround sound in movies. |

SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB External
Cons:Analog connectors are your only option if you want 5.1Optical port is stereo only with no option to enable Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect. The optical port should work as a pass-through though to watch your DVDs in full 5.1A digital coaxial out would have been nice
Pros:External - no need to worry about finding space in a cramped case.EAX 5 supportGreat for connecting your laptop to a home theater system. Comment:
I was disappointed to learn that Creative's drivers do not allow you to make use of the ability of the X-Fi to encode Dolby Digital and DTS for output through the optical S/PDIF.It's frustrating to know that the card is perfectly capable of doing this but Creative will not allow it. The Dolby Digtal Live & DTS Connect pack that they sell on their web site to enable some X-Fi cards to output full 5.1 through the S/PDIF does not support the external USB version of the card. Other than this limitation, I'm satisfied with the card's performance. |
Sound quality is really good, and the included software allows for a lot of tweaks and changes in sound experience. I use it for both my laptop and main gaming machine, and its portable so I can take it anywhere and use it on systems that dont have good built-in sound cards. Price is also reasonable.
