Okay
Comment:
The produce appeared to be okay but I returned it 'cuz I needed a Male connector to go to the ribbon cable. This was entirely my error but they took the part back no problem. BTW the male connector that I bought in it's place (same manufacturer) worked great. |

Dead or not dead?

Would not fit on my board and would not work on my drive. I don't know what else to say. Maybe it's just me? |

Please beware
Comment:
I purchased two of these and converted 2 ide items to sata. After hooking them up neither was recognized and when I unhooked them they would not be recognized as ide or usb. I lost a hard drive and a DVD RW because of these. Please watch yourself with these products. |

Be careful
Comment:
Once installed the adapter worked fine. However, the solder side of the circuit board has many protruding wires that could have been clipped closer or simply cover the side with a clear epoxy for insulation. Buy even a slight touch of the connector you WILL short out the board to the edge of the IDE device possibly causing problems with the motherboard. This happened to me. So buy it and enjoy but be ever so careful since it may cost you a new motherboard! |
I thought I would save some money and reuse an old DVDRW drive that is IDE only in a new build. Picked up this adapter for cheaper than a new drive. Turns out that it's IDE to SATA only, not SATA to IDE. This will not let you use an old drive in a new SATA only mobo. The open box item was mine and I can vouch that it's not defective.
