StarTech USB 2.0 to SATA IDE Adapter
Cons:None so far.
Pros:Works as described, simply and reliably. Seems robust. Comment:
I've had excellent results with Startech items, and this one is no exception. It works reliably and quickly, in exactly the manner described. I was able to easily hook up an ancient 120MB (yes, MB) IDE hard drive, and recover some old files, even though the drive is barely operational. Worked perfectly with both my Mac and Linux boxes. |

StarTech USB 2.0 to SATA IDE Adapter
Cons:None
Pros:- IDE and SATA support- Separate IDE and SATA power buttons- Separate IDE and SATA LED indicators- Attractive design Comment:
The pictures do not do justice for this IDE/SATA cable: the build quality of this adapter cable is better than the generic (no name brand) ones.I use it to connect internal hard drives and CD/DVD/Blu-ray burners externally.Occasionally, Windows XP Home will not recognize the drives I plug in. However, after I read the instructions, it was my bad. I connected the drive in the wrong order. First, you have to power up the drive, plug the USB cable into the computer then boot up the computer (as some other reviews note). |

StarTech USB 2.0 to SATA IDE Adapter
Cons:
Too many cables. SATA cable is short. USB adapter needs additional power from the LP4 IDE power connector
Pros: Star Tech products tend to have unique and reliable products Comment:
I have several older IDE drives that I need to wipe and test. Did not like the other models because they mainly do not have a power switch for the drive. This one does. Eventhough the number of cables can be a "bummer" but the adapter works as specified. |

StarTech USB 2.0 to SATA IDE Adapter
Cons:
None so far
Pros: Connectivity options for every drive type.ReliableProvides consistent transfer speeds Comment:
I bought this as a way of mainly hooking up old IDE drives to my computer for data backup purposes. It works well and has provided enough power for every drive I've tried it with so far. I've used some bad IDE cables at work that don't allow the computer to recognize the drive but these have worked flawlessly so far. |

StarTech USB 2.0 to SATA IDE Adapter
Cons:none I can think of
Pros:Accepts all common hard drives, 2.5,3.5" sata 2.5,3.5" IDE Comment:
Ive used this product at work for awhile now, and it works really well. Startech products may not be a super well known brand, but their products are very reliable. The only thing that Ive noticed is that you want to plug the drive into the device, power it up, and then plug it into the computer, otherwise it may not be detected. This thing works really well, a great tool to have when repairing computers. |
I purchased this product for retrieving data from a couple of old (IDE) hard drives & to add it to the 'toolbox' for fixing other PCs.It does what it says it does, it's convenient, saves time, easy to use, and gets you out of a jam.Be sure to follow instructions, or you may encounter problems.
