StarTech.com Rayovac Quartz CR2032 standard battery - Li
Cons:Remains to be seen. Time will tell.

Pros:Inexpensive, handy to have spares.
Comment:
These are the standard CMOS batteries found in computer motherboards, used to preserve BIOS settings and keep the real time clock running when the computer is powered down. Lots of problems can occur if the battery fails, and the battery may not be the immediately obvious source. These batteries are readily obtainable and come from a wide variety of manufacturers, including all of the "major brands". Price varies widely as well, but given the relatively low cost and importance, going for the cheapest that you can find is probably not a great idea. That said, these are reasonably-priced (compared to the 5 to 6 dollars often charges in some retail outlets). A good CMOS battery should last for years, which is probably the reason why they tend to die without people noticing or understanding the source of the problem. Of course, if you replace your motherboard frequently and get rid of the old ones, this is not even an issue, since the battery is unlikely to fail (unless defective) while you own and use the board. But I like to keep a few around in my tool kit just in case. I can't say these batteries are better or worse than other brands (for the low-power use in a mainboard), but they do have a one-year warranty, and the manufacturer, GLD Battery of Taiwan, is a company that specializes in lithium coin cells. As the other reviewer here said, they may not last in other applications, but I can't really say at this point. If you're only looking for one, and you won'y be needing another for years, perhaps paying a few dollars more isn't a bad idea for the sake of peace-of-mind. Since I can't say much about the longevity of these, I'll just have to say that yhey're satisfactory for now. I did test one with my digital multimeter, and it read 3.34 volts.

StarTech.com Rayovac Quartz CR2032 standard battery - Li
Cons:very low capacity

Pros:Tray pack of 5
Comment:
Got a pile of these since they come in tray packs, but compared to the many other cheap ones avauilable, these are Dollar-store quality at about double the cost.About 25-30% the capacity of a duracell or energizer, and about 50% of a cheap make.Thats fine if it's sitting in a mobo, but for any electronic gadget, it doesn't cut it.Brand I got was GLD Taiwan-made. Hope they find a different make.
