I recently bought an ASUS 27" 2560x1440 monitor and use a Belkin SOHO KVM to share it between my Desktop and Laptop. The KVM is Dual Link DVI capable. My laptop docking station has DVI that isn't Dual Link, but it does have DisplayPort.I bought this so I could have the high resolution and still use the KVM. It's more convenient than having to switch the monitor input as well as KVM each time to get the monitor, mouse and keyboard.Just plugged the StarTech DisplayPort to DVI in and selected the 2560x1440 resolution on my laptop. Worked immediately.The box that holds the electronics and DVI port is metal. Looks like good build quality.Note that the unit needs power that comes from a USB connector. So you need an open USB port.Pretty happy with it so far.
