Startech DisplayPort to VGA Video Converter Adapter
Cons:None
Pros:Works unlike my active DVI adapterCheap pricematched Comment:
I've been using a so-called "ATI approved" active DisplayPort to DVI adapter for a few months to get three displays on my 5850. It worked great for awhile but now the screen flickers on and off at random times. Finally got fed up with it and got his one instead (didn't care that was VGA, as long as it worked). Works great! For now... |

based on the previous review i bought this to run eyefinity. And surprisingly it actually works!! No problems so far, but it still is pricey for an adapter. |

Pros: Great for 3rd monitorworks with eyefinity Comment:
I bought this since it actually works for the 3rd monitor for eyefinity. This is technically an active displayport to vga adapter (all dp to vga are). I made my purchase based on this discussion and it worked out for me:http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/279498-33-displayport-adapter-eyefinityIt works perfectly for me. I have dell ultrasharp 2209wa on dvi, samsung 920n on dvi and a samsung 2243 on the vga to displayport adapter. The monitor with the highest resolution must be connected to this adapter. If all resolutions are the same than pick any to plug in. |

Startech DisplayPort to VGA Video Converter Adapter
Cons:Your pre-Christmas 5870 will need a bios flash to cease flickering Highest commonly available resolution is 3872X1024, sometimes 4216X1024
Pros:Allows limited 3 CRT Eyefinity with 5870 CF. Comment:
Somebody had to take the plunge and try this...Like I said above, your 2009 5X00 radeon will need a bios flash to get rid of a flickering problem inherent in the earlier cards off the production line. Found here:http://techpowerup.com/vgabios/61848/ATI.HD5870.1024.091112.htmlThis works at lower resolutions, but I was really looking forwards to doing a 4800X1200 desktop, so I will need to keep looking for a ATi certified dongle to hit the market.Note: DO NOT but an active DPDVI adapter for a three CRT setup, it is DVI-D and it won't even plug into your DVI-I connector. |
Great adapter. Works exactly like expected. Plug and play :). Currently using to plug my ACER AL1916W on my gtx 670, works very well. This review was modfied by poster @ 09-08-12 09:15 AM
