Excellent Modem
Comment:
This is an excellent product and well worth the price. Just had to plug it into a USB port. Windows 7 64bit recognized and configured it with no problems. Works as expected with Windows 7 Fax Software. |

Works with Windows 7
Comment:
I bought this product because my Toshiba Netbook has no modem. It also has no CDROM. I turned on the computer, plugged the modem into the USB port, and W7 loaded the drivers right out of its database. It's been working GREAT for me. |

Decent Replacement
Comment:
This is a decent modem, it's great to not have to install an internal modem, ease of use is VERY easy. Install driver, plug in and go. My only complaint is that it's more expensive than in internal modem and it's pretty slow. But if you live in the boonie where there is no cable or DSL, it will work for checking email and light surfing. |

Works Exactly as Advertised...
Comment:
I purchased this product because I stay in a lot of mom-and-pop motels in small towns that only have dial-up connections. My new netbook (MSI Wind) doesn't have an internal modem, so this little jewel was a life saver. Plus, it's small enough to fit in my computer bag. |

Transfer your modem
Comment:
Bought this modem to be able to transfer it from computer to computer, as I sometimes help others with computer problems and set-up. I am on dial-up and this is a handy way to get on line and fax with the XP and Vista Fax software that comes pre-installed with the operating system. The small disk only come with drivers and that is all, no fax software what-so-ever. Installed easily. Worked okay, slower then a PCI modem. This is a win modem, so it used your processor to operate. Okay for what it is, over priced by at least $25.00 for what you get. |

No problems with this product
Comment:
Purchased this modem for a new computer. Shipping was excellent. Modem installation was simple and the modem has worked fine so far. My only complaint was the fact that it cost too much. |

Ok, but not great
Comment:
This works if connected diretly to a USB 2.0 port, but it would not disconnect after a fax was sent when it was connected to a D-Link 1 to 7 USB Hub. I contacted customer support via email and their response was within 24 hours. They could not find the problem and suggested they a send it to them for an exchange. However, I found out the problem with connecting it to the USB hub and did not need to send it back. The instruction sheet is a bit vague, as it gave you the impression that Vista would not require the drivers on the supplied CD, but it did need it. |

Startech External 56K USB Modem
Comment:
Recently bought this item. I've had it now for a couple days. I have to say that I am extremely happy with this product. I have no complaints as of yet. My only gripe about is the price. I mean give me a break it is 56K technology. This has been around for ages. LOL I can see paying $50 for a DSL or Cable Modem but not a 56K modem. Don't buy the ''Wintec 3FMUSBMV92-R USB Fax Modem'': Couple months ago I had bought a new laptop off of a dealer on Amazon.com Laptop on dealer site was advertising laptop as having a built in 56K dial up modem. However, when I received it, it didn't have one. So dealer on Amazon sent me a ''Wintec 3FMUSBMV92-R USB Fax Modem'' That modem was 100% junk. I couldn't keep connected no more than 5-15 mins at a time. Plus took a long time to connect to the net each time. Again, So far with the ''StarTech.com USB56KEM Ext. 56K USM Modem'' I've had no issues. So far a great product. I highly recommend this. |
this product installed easily and fast, i didn't heard any complaint from 1 of my customer that bought this from me, it was easy to connect to the internet via phone line, just plug it in and dial up, and your connected, easily and simple.
