Swiftech Hydrx Water Additive Coolant
Cons:None
Pros:Got it on sale - seems like automotive coolant and it's doing the trick! Comment:
Seems to be required for Swiftech warranties - honestly, not sure why you'd use something else other than the color. |

Swiftech Hydrx Water Additive Coolant
Cons:Sticky, really sticky.
Pros:Actually does keep algae from forming Comment:
Two years ago I bought some koolance stuff and had to eventually toss my whole cpu block, got all gunked up with debris and algae. This Hydrx has worked so far, just disassembled the whole thing for an upgrade, and it looks just as pretty as when I first bought it. But one thing I didn't notice with the Koolance stuff, while purging the rad I spilled a good bit on my hands. This stuff is sticky. Even when diluted in the water. Now I don't know if that's a huge deal, it's not like it changes the viscosity of the water at all, it's just felt like when you've got wet sugar on your hands. I wonder if that's a problem now that blocks use this fancy micro channels? Bah. I haven't noticed an increase in temps yet, we'll find out in another six months. |

Use distilled water and add the full bottle.I have a swiftech full water system (double rad, GPU/memory block, cpu block, reservoir and motherboard block).Used ptfe tape on the barbs zero leaks and the pump still running strong! Minor water topup over this period. |

Swiftech Hydrx Water Additive Coolant

Pros:Helps lubricate the pump, slow corrosion and inhibit algae growth.Active under UV lightwon't void swiftech warranty Comment:
Helps lubricate the pump, slow corrosion and inhibit algae growth.Active under UV light and won't void swiftech warranty.Cheaper than pre-mixed stuff. All you need is distilled water. |
Been using this stuff for over 3 years - Tore my system apart last week after upgrading all the guts, and the loop was as clean as the first day I built it.Things to note - my system is not in the sun - Algae free, no residues in any of my blocks or radiator, pump still going strong after being powered on for over 3 years.Besides wanting a different colored coolant, I wouldn't understand why someone would put something else in their loop!
