TIMBUK2 D-LUX Laptop Racing Stripe Messenger Bag Fits Notebooks Up to 15.6in
Cons:Shoulder strap too stiff
Pros:Spacious, trendy, solid, many pockets, great laptop/tablet compartment Comment:
This is by far the best messenger bag I have ever owned. It is of high quality, quite big, and its layout is great with lots of compartments where to put your stuff. I mainly use it for school so I got a lot of books inside, a couple pens and some other stuff I mainly put in the numerous pockets (calculator, keys...). The laptop compartment is well ventilated and holds my laptop quite well (a Dell Inspiron 15R). There's a tablet pouch too, if you happen to own one.I was looking for a timbuk2 bag and was going to order a custom made one from the official website until I saw this one at 80 bucks (quite the deal since it would've cost me 200+ taking the other route). While I didn't get a say on its colors and features (something you can control while buying from timbuk2), I found this one quite good-looking for a fraction of the price. The only drawback I can think of is the shoulder strap. While it's nice and makes the bag more beautiful, it is way too stiff and hurts your shoulder even if you're carrying a light load. I hope it'll loosen up a little after more use. Otherwise, you can just take it off if you want, making the bag extremely comfortable. |

TIMBUK2 D-LUX Laptop Racing Stripe Messenger Bag Fits Notebooks Up to 15.6in
Cons:Comfort of the shoulder strap pad. Cushioning at the bottom of the bag.
Pros:Material and build quality. Storage space. Comment:
I bought this bag as a replacement for my work laptop bag and so far it's a hit. Sturdy material, waterproof, quality zippers and buckles/clips. Lots of convenient pockets and zipper access. Large enough to hold my laptop and all sorts of other gear.I have to deduct small marks in two areas: One for the cushioning on the shoulder strap pad which could be a bit more comfortable. However, you can unvelcro it and replace it with a more comfortable version. And while there is good cushioning on either side of the laptop compartment, it's somewhat limited at the bottom of the bag below the laptop. |
I bought this on sale back in August of 2013. Fantastic value ($80). I've owned the Timbuk2 Classic Messenger and this is a great upgrade. It's like they took all the feedback from the classic version and made an improved version. Quick zipper access to your laptop, a top-flap handle and better organization. It may be me, or my tendency to over-pack when I travel, but the "spacious-ness" is a double edge sword. It's easy to lose smaller stuff. As the other reviewers say, the shoulder strap pad is very stiff.
