Pros:Inexpensive, well supported in various Windows versions. Just works! Comment:
Great for upgrading older PCs to 1Gbps specs. PCI is perfect because older PCs have them. It's not plug and play but does come with drivers for all versions of Windows. Drivers come on a CD and latest version can be downloaded from website. I've tested speed up to 800Mbps with CAT 5E and CAT 6 cables in an enterprise environment. It's not able to get to full 1Gbps but probably bottlenecked by routers and switches. You can't ask for more at this price. |

Pros:Detected under Windows 7, driver will get updated with Windows Update.Detected with PFsense 2.0.1 FreeBSD 8.1-RELEASE-p6 Comment:
Seems to be working fine.Had to hack a LP bracket salvaged from an old modem. |

I bought this card to fit with my new switch Giga. There is no reason to change a 100Mo card for this new one for about 14$ on sale !!! Absolutly no problem yet. |

Most people will be fine using a regular PCI slot for this card, but some may not. I don't mind, and the card works perfectly. Easy to install, and handles all my gigabit networking without any issues. PMed this card also, so I was able to get it for real cheap. |

5 bucks, threw it in my order for the hell of it. I'm planning on building a pfsence P3 box soon, so it may come handy. Don't expect top speeds or lowest latency with this one, it's very basic and meant for tight budgets. $5!!!! wouldn't pay any more than $5 for it though :P |

Great little Gigabit NIC for $18. I usually purchase the Intel 1000GT for PCI applications but this is just a simple setup that did not require the high end Intel card. The biggest issue is that the card runs EXTREMELY hot at idle or at load. I have read with my Fluke temp meter upwards of 75C on the back of the card which worries me. How long this thing will last is a valid question... |
