TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:none at the moment
Pros:small footprint, auto MDI/MDIX, supports mixed cables Comment:
I used this to replace an 10 yr old Dynex 10/100 5-port switch. I needed a few extra ports and didn't want to go the lazy way out by daisy-chaining multiple switches. The auto MDI/MDIX works great specially with mixed cable runs of questionable wiring arrangements. Yes, patch cables purchased pre-made could be wired in either the 568B or 568A methods. Method B is the more common and both should work together without any issues, however, it is sometimes better to make sure all cables follow a single method for your home network. The auto MDI/MDIX also works even if you use crossover patch cables. Works with Cat5/Cat5e for Gigabit connections. The product comes in a basic box with a small bilingual booklet for some documentation and instructions, a power cord and the switch itself. |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:None
Pros:Very Easy to setup, and Connect.Small footprint (easy to hide)Inexpensive when on sale. Comment:
Performs as Advertised.Connects with either Regular, or crossover Cables. (Crossovers are not needed, but If you have a few extra, you can use them as a regular cable).100 & 1000 Bit units connected. Gigabit units not slowed down whatsoever.Beats the 4 cable ports that I had on my Router, now I can connect all the other electronics I have to the network, and I have a few to spare for future expansion. The lights are also greenNot the blue that interrupts sleep cycles. The power block also points out to the side, so it is easy to place on the power-bar. |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:None to date
Pros:Relatively inexpensiveWorks as advertised without issues Comment:
Not a great deal to add here to what others have said. I needed to replace an ancient four port hub I had been using to connect my collection of older PCs to the network, and this was an inexpensive solution. I purchased it on sale along with a five-port version for my daughter. My experience so far has been that they are great value for the money. |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:Doesn't blend
Pros:Works without issue Comment:
It's a switch- it has worked without issue since putting it on my home LAN, which is pretty much what you want from a network switch. Can't compare its performance to other offerings but it was a good price. |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:-none!
Pros:-affordable-works as expected Comment:
This is a wonderful switch. It works very well. I bought 2 and built a gigabit network for my new file server (FreeNAS) Wow, the speed is nice. If you have more that one computer at home and want to share stuff fast, don't bother to get a gigabit router. Get one or two of those and you are set! |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:Son poids faible et ceci fait en sorte que le boitier ne tient pas bien droit avec la tensions des câbles réseau s'y raccordant.
Pros:Manufacturier fiable.8 ports Gigabit.

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:- None so far.
Pros:- Good value ($24.99 on sale when I bought them).- Runs cool to the touch even with transfers going, very surprised at this as my Netgear and D-Link got hot quite hot.- Black shell doesn't stand out, but looks nice. LEDs are green.- Small for an 8 port. Comment:
- Picked up two of these to replace an old dying Netgear 5 port gigabit and a old D-link 8 port gigabit. Very satisfied so far, will be buying/recommending these in the future when needed for family/friends. |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:None
Pros:Excellent Throughput and reliability for a reasonable price. Comment:
Before you spend a lot of money on a managed switch for your home or SOHO network, check out the TL-SG1008D.I have been using this unmanaged switch for about two months now with great results. I routinely monitor network quality and there is no packet loss and excellent throughput. One of the things I like about this particular switch is its boring rectangular shape. With all of the funky shapes common with consumer network appliances, it's nice to have something plain that you can stack stuff on. My switch makes a nice stand for my Magic 8-Ball.Finding a great quality unmanaged switch - $29.Finding a base for your magic 8-ball - Priceless |

Wow this thing is amazing.. didn't have enough ports on my NETGEAR router, this fixed that! my WNDR4500 only gets around 100MB/s average over the gigabit, this thing is half again more! costed $50 with 2x25ft cat5e cables including taxes and shipping! thank you NCIX! |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:Plastic case.
Pros:Cheap. Reliable. Plug & Play. Fast. Small. Comment:
Totally happy with this purchase. Arrived in 2 days with free shipping. Can't beat it. Hooked up the cables and plugged it in. Voila! Worked like a charm right off the bat. Sped up my PS3 connection from 17mb with WD Powerline to 33 mb with this switch. The WD unit was OK but started giving me erratic connection after a few days of heavy rain somehow affected my house wiring. No point spending more for this type of unit. Works perfectly and the price is right! |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:Plastic housing, LEDs only shows connected computer but does not tell rather computer is connected in 100 or 1000Mbps speed.Does not include vertical stands. These are not really cons considering the price was less than $20, cheapest gigabit switch at this time.
Pros:Cheap and runs cool Comment:
Got one instead of a Trendnet because this was cheaper, other than the plastic housing I don't think there is a difference in hardware inside and this runs pretty cool. |

I got two of these to replace a failed netgeear unit which was being RMA'd. The price was unbelievably low in my opinion and they worked great immediately. |

Pros:-Great switch!-Fast-Energy efficient Comment:
This is a great little switch. It's very small and is perfect for networking anything from your home network to that LAN party you've been planning all month. This is the first TP-Link product I have purchased and I will definitely be purchasing their products again. |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:None - maybe too lite, which causes the cables to pull the switch off the table?
Pros:Inexpensive, small, lite, not too bright, nothing to configure Comment:
This is a great switch. I'm using it on my home gigabit lan and it's connected to my wireless router 50 ft away. I'm using all Cat 5E cabling. I have been able to transfer at speeds of about 80 mb/s, which is probably bound by other equipment at that point. I have no complaints about it and would buy another one in an instant. |

TP-LINK TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Unmanaged Gigabit Desktop Switch
Cons:none, it's a switch...
Pros:8 gbits portsPrice Comment:
I feel that for the money, TP-Link makes great equipment. I have used many brands and TP-Link works just as well as brands that cost twice as much.I had trouble streaming HD Video across my network but this solved it. I am now only limited by the speed of my computers and other devices. What else can I say, it just moves data. |
I've bought this appliance with good confidence and expectations as I had already bought another TP-Link switch in the past (24 ports) and I am 100% satisfied with it. That TP-Link is still running strong for me to this day (more than two years) hence why I am confident I should get the same reliability with this one. There is one person who gave a bad review claiming that this switch does not deliver the performance it claims. Well, I don't know which methodology that person used, but I have nothing but good praise on the performance. In my case, I have written an appliance myself that constantly exchanges data between two computers connected to the switch and I was consistently getting 896 Mbps. My guess is that the remaining Mbps missing are related to the overhead of the IP frames. In comparison, I had run my tool against my old 100 Mbps switch and I was getting speed of 90 Mbps... See the pattern here? 10% overhead. This article seems to confirm my observations: http://www.tamos.net/~rhay/wp/overhead/overhead.htmSo bottom line, I think you can buy this switch with confidence and according to me, it's a steal. And thanks to NCIX again for great prices & lightning fast shipping!
