TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:runs a little but then again the speedstream I had ran hotter
Pros:very small, low price, easy to use, interface is easy to set up. Has an on/off button Comment:
This was the easiest piece of equipment I ever installed. I simply replaced my speedstream with this one and everything worked without any changes out of the box. I have a wireless router, and my speedstream was in bridged mode. Verified the speeds between the two and the speeds are more or less the same. I verified the interface to make sure there was no catch and it was already in bridge mode, and the defaults worked straight with my Bell connection. |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:hoped it had more back ports
Pros:easy to setup, supports bridge mode, Comment:
Bought this a modem, and setting this up was a breeze. There is a 'wizard' that allows you to set up your internet, and there is also a more advanced settings page with more options. Good deal, and I would recommend this to my friends if they want an inexpensive modem. |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:can handle up to 10Mbps lines
Pros:Okay for Basic DSL Comment:
I got this device for 9.99+tax as a backup. This device needs to have security manually configured based on reviews. Exercise caution and this is also very outdated hardware. do not buy if you are planning to use with with NEW DSL services. |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:None
Pros:Price and Stability Comment:
TP-Link is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Their pricing is amazing but it's the performance that impresses me the most. When I replaced my old provider supplied DSL modem with this one, it TRIPLED my throughput! It detected all the right settings without hardly a tweak. Feature rich settings for the professional as well. Of the 6 or so units I've bought for my clients, only one has issues with tuning in to my DSL line and chances are it is the providers line coming in that is the problem anyway. One day I'll get a chance to swap out the unit to test it for real, but every unit, once connected is very stable and fast. With the one bad site all I ever had to do was unplug and replug the line a couple of times and it would sync in. A great product! |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:Not very fast (YMMV)
Pros:CheapDoes it's job Comment:
Got this to replace a 516 Thompson, but turns out it didn't run too well with our line. Speed dropped down significantly. Got another 516 and speeds were back to normal |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:- Looks cheap and it's white rather than black.
Pros:- Wow... only 19$ !!!- Same thing if not even better than those ur ISP will sell you for 75$.- Supports ADSL2+ even if we won't see it before 10 years in Canada. Comment:
Never buy a modem from ur ISP, it's total rip off. Get this one which does the job plenty well enough. It either works or doesn't so.. |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:runs a bit hotfor some reason, mine takes 3+ minutes to sync after a soft reboot
Pros:better line stats and more stable than all my previous modemssupports ADSL2 (but i have only tested ADSL1)price Comment:
It's hard to believe that a brand new DSL modem can be had for less than $30, it seems like just yesterday these things were going for over $100. i'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that it runs hot and i've had bad luck in the past with electronics that run hot. |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:
- None that I can think of
Pros: - Works great with Teksavvy- Looks decent enough Comment:
I bought this instead of the SpeedTouch 516 to work with Teksavvy. From my past experience, the SpeedTouch worked, but was way too expensive. The TD-8816 works just as well and costs half less. Currently synching at 5056/800 with Teksavvy Premium DSL |

Well for 20$ this is an impressive unit. It was incredibly easy to set up and so far it hasn't crashed once. I'm currently using it with Telus and it took about 2 min to make it work in bridge mode with the right settings. The wizard makes it user friendly. Best ADSL modem out there for the price... |

TP-Link TD-8816 External ADSL2/2+ Ethernet Router
Cons:
None so far
Pros: CheapFully configurable Comment:
This modem/router works great with Telus in BC. I bought this to replace the Siemens SE567 wireless gateway, since I wanted to keep using my own wireless-N router with dd-wrt firmware; Telus refused to send me a Thomson Speedtouch when I signed up, and when I asked for a switch they said it would cost me $50. I could buy my own Speedtouch here on NCIX for that price, but I'm cheap so I gave this TP-Link a try. So far, so good.Be warned, though, you'll be on your own for technical assistance should anything go wrong with your Telus connection, as their "tech support" most assuredly cannot help you with non-standard equipment. |
