TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:None!! exept the speed will be less if your not on the same breaker or circuit. Other electrical applicances will also affect the speed, but it's not variable. I way get around 80 mbps outside, but i'm going through a different circuit and two breakers.

Pros:Easy installation, works through multiple breakers. Installed one adapter in the house and other one in my outside shed! Very stable connexion.
Comment:
Don't hesitate to buy this, it's a no brainer.

TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:Still doesn't give anywhere near advertised speed

Pros:Works better than any other Powerline kit I've used, fast speeds, rock-solid stable, PnP install works like a dream
Comment:
I've tried every other Powerline kit on the market to bring high-speed into a wireless dead-zone in my house to stream 1080p content to my Asus O!Play, and this one finally give me enough speed to get the job done!I've benchmarked it around 130Mbps, where every other kit I've tried gave me at most 25Mbps!It's a shame I don't get even half what TrendNET advertises as max, but even this is better than what I was suffering thru with WiFi!

TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:Price. Even at sale $80, I think there definitely has a room for the price to go down. I remember paying $150 for Wireless N router back in the days. The price will come down eventually.

Pros:SUPER FASTEASIEST SET UP EVER
Comment:
Ok. I am with Shaw and their provided 50/50 mbps plan Router was super sickeningly bad. Like my old Linksys worked x10 better. So I called them up and told them to send a technician so I don't need to use their crappy router. The problem was that I couldn't get the max speed of that plan with older modem and there was no way for me to use my old router or any router for that matter. So I got stuck with that router but kept dropping signal on one of my main computers. So I ended up getting this and now super fast. I think almost as fast as directly connected. Good buy but the price was bit stiff for what were in the box. Should be cheaper. But basically paying for the technology I guess...

TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:throughout is adequate for almost all 720p movies, but not adequate for 1080p (half of them crap out, which could also be my Mezzmo media server)

Pros:works well; reliable; easy to connect
Comment:
Very happy with product. Wifi is good for surfing, but for media (especially HD) you need more bandwidth. These devices work great. Currently have 4 and planning to expand to 6. Works great with DLNA devices and Mezzmo media server.

TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:None so far

Pros:- Easy to Install- Stable Connection- Good Price when it is on sale- It works from 120 V - 240 V
Comment:
It is easy to install, can be used between 120 V or 240 V AC power, and the connection is stable as well (compared with wireless). THe speed is around 240 Mb/S (not 500 Mb/s), but this depends on electrical lines.

TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:Need to use software if you want to set the security.

Pros:Plug-in and play.
Comment:
This is one of the few networking products that really works as plug-n-play. I have an ASUS-N16 using tomatoUSB that gives me great wireless through-out the house. I have LinkSys 150N configured with DD-WRT to act as a wireless gateway plugged into my popcorn hour at my TV. It took many months, and many test configurations, but the two work reliably for transmitting 720P video from my USB harddrive array to my TV.Now, given my outstanding wireless performance, why in the world do I need this? Well a few years ago I purchased a security system. I have been unable to hook it up, because I would need to run a phone line from my office VOIP router to the wall where I want to hookup the security system. I could use a wireless gateway, and plug-in the VOIP router at the security system box. However, it would be trivial for someone to interfere with the wireless network, thus defeating the whole security system. In fact even the wireless alarm system itself might interfere.I simply plug one plug in my office and a second near the door. The VOIP router plugs into that. I now have a wired solution for the phone line. As an added benefit the location of the security station is close enough to the TV to run a cat 6 cable. So now instead of 720P I can do full 1080P on my TV.

TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:Still not true 500mbs, CANNOT access the security utility as it claimed that no devices were attached - EVEN though I am getting connectivity to all my network shares and the internet (my wireless is turned off).

Pros:Faster than my 200mbs
Comment:
I have been using the Royale 200 for almost 2 years (I also had the Belkin 200 and did not like them), this is a step up.Based on my experience the Royale 200 and this Trendnet 500 use the same technology and they both use the same (OEM) utility for network security setup and bandwidth monitoring. The Trendnet 500 is definitely faster, but it is still not 500. My experience is that this would go around 220 to 280 (average around 200). As a reference, my Royale 200 has been around 85 - 130, average around around 100). This could be because of my own wiring. So be prepared to be YMMV.Bottom line, it is a good step up at this price ($80 + taxes). Finally I do have an issue - see my CONS.

TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit
Cons:- only 1 ethernet port (not really a concern for me, perhaps for other people)

Pros:- able to stream full 1080p video with no lag
Comment:
Just bought this today for $80 ($50 off). Only tried it briefly, but I was able to stream a full 1080p HD video from my computer downstairs through my PS3 upstairs without any lag or hiccups, at about 60 megabytes per second. I haven't been able to establish a strong wireless connection in this house, but I always been skeptical of ethernet over power, so I've been hesitant to buy something like this. However, I've heard nothing but good things, so I finally caved and bought one. Quite impressed!I was going to go with the WD Livewire, which has more ports, but my NCIX was sold out and this was $30 cheaper and boasts faster speeds, so why not!

Comment:
Quicker than 200mbit Homeplug AV adapters (compared to the TPL-302's I presently have). Here's a quick breakdown I have a pair of TPL-302's which connect @ 𞳆Mbit/sec, which gives me about 6MB/sec in throughput. I placed the TPL-401's in the same outlet and they connect @ 𞴁MBit/sec, giving about 9MB/sec in throughput. Not that a lot faster, thinking about the price. I purchased these hoping to see some thing closer to 15MB/sec. Certainly, a lot depends on your home wiring. Possibly we will see improvements down the road, but I have but to see Trendnet release any firmware upgrades for their homeplug items. I would be interested to see how these compare against Netgear's XAVB5001 (whenever they turn into available). Also worth noting, I previously tried the Belkin Gigabit Homeplugs with horrible results (they were worse than the 200mbit homeplugs).Overall, I don't see the value in upgrading the 200mbit homeplugs (considering the current cost for the TPL-401's), but I believe they are a solid buy if you are acquiring for a "new" installation.

Comment:
I definitely like how it supplied 1 GBs connection that I genuinely necessary for 1 GBs switch and router. Also I like the line excellent LED to tell me how great the existing powerline connection was. One unit was dead over night. I re-plugged it, then it worked for a although. Died about 4 times that day until it would not come on once again. Had to return it. I did not like how item plugs into the wall, because my plugs are horizontal, it sticks in horizontally and does not look comfy. Cons:Windows only setupNo pass through power plugOnly 1 connection

Pros:Easy set upOver 100Mbps connectionCheaper than competitor
Comment:
Don't believe the 500 Mbps, but I do get over 100mbps consistently, which is more than what I expected.Bought it cause it is cheaper than the NetGear kit, and I needed to use it immediately, so can't wait for NetGear to go on sale. Ended up being pretty happy with the purchase once I've set it up.

Cons: Takes up a wall plug.

Pros: Faster than 200Mbps models.
Comment:
Just a quick comment. Picked this up on sale from NCIX last week + $10 off from gift card with a previous purchase so cheapest deal I could find.Wanted to upgrade my previous D-Link 200Mbps powerline kit. In comparison this is a bit quicker; depending on time of day (line condition), I used to get about 4.5MB/sec copy speed to my Win2008R2 file server in the basement. It's up to 5.5MB/sec with this kit. I see occasional spikes to 7MB/sec.So, overall, it's faster but not a huge amount. I don't do any gaming so can't say if latency has improved for that purpose. There's a recent firmware upgrade which I've applied (5.0.1.02) and have not noticed any speed change...
