TRENDnet TPL-408E2K Powerline 500 AV2 Adapter Kit w/ Gigabit Port & Power Save Mode
Cons:a bit laggy when gaming.
Pros:Easy to configure, very fast connection. Comment:
This product is very good. Been using Trendnet TLP-401 for almost 2 years. They were hot... needed to replug them to restart the ring. These 408 seem better. I am using 6 in the house and everything is great. Probably not optimum for gaming (lag)... |

TRENDnet TPL-408E2K Powerline 500 AV2 Adapter Kit w/ Gigabit Port & Power Save Mode
Cons:A little pricey
Pros:Easy to use and works flawlessly Comment:
I bought two sets of these because I live in a big house with 3 people who use a lot of video streaming. I tried setting up a wireless network for the family a while ago but it would often d/c or be way too slow. I was a little skeptical about these because I heard they weren't very great when they first came out, but I'd have to say not anymore! In summary, they are:-very fast-very simple to set up (I didn't even have to sync--plug and surf!)-decent size-Slightly expensive for me-Supports multiple HD streamingI think I might buy another set for the tenants in the basement suite! |

TRENDnet TPL-408E2K Powerline 500 AV2 Adapter Kit w/ Gigabit Port & Power Save Mode
Cons:None yet
Pros:Fast for powerline ethernet Comment:
I tried a D-Link kit (the one with an adapter and 4 ports switch) and after 3-4 hours trying to have them see each other, I just quit and return them to BB. I decided to try again with those and I just work... You plug them and that's it. They are pre synced and pre encrypted, not like the D-Link one who you need to hold the button, pray and sacrifice a pig... On the same breaker, I was able to get around 400mbps, on different breaker with around 70 feet of wiring (mid 80' apartment building), I'm able to get around 100mbps with low ping (around 2-3 ms more than using a cat6 with Gigabit ethernet), I also test with Stream in-home Streaming (tested Deus EX:HR) and I didn't notice any difference between those and my gigabit network. I bought this because I gonna move in a 5 years old condo in 2 month and I didn't want to install cat6 for now and I need network for my HTPC in the living room. Wifi is not an option because I used this HTPC stream game in steam alot. So I bet I will be probably able to get better speed in Condo because of newer wiring. |
Got this one as it is rated top powerline kit in one magazine. Three to four times faster than my Netgear 3700 wireless router when paired with dual band USB Linksys AE3000. It doesnot time out when transferring large folder. Only got it one week ago. No problem so far. Almost double speed of D-Link powerline DHP-309AV kit.
