Thermalright High-Riser HR-05-SLI/IFX Heatpipe Chipset Cooler for SLI Motherboards
Cons:none so far
Pros:Phenomenal cooling Comment:
Replaced my passive stock NB heatsink (GB E7AUM-DS2H mobo, integrated nVidia 9400 NB/GPU, C2Q 9550)with this one, and I am blown away. This NB would idle at around 60 with the stock heatsink, +/-70 under load. With this baby in place, I've drop ped my idle temps to 37, haven't broken 42 under normal load. And this is in passive mode - if I added an 80mm fan that this cooler is ready for, I'm sure I'd drop it even more.Well packed, pretty complete kit including a decent size tube of compound (I actually used my own Arctic Silver 5, I'm kind of partial to that stuff), and all mounting hardware for 3 different types of install & fan brackets. Install was quite easy, even with a huge OCZ Vendetta2 sitting directly above the NB. Really satisfied with this cooler - excellent price / performance ratio. |

Thermalright High-Riser HR-05-SLI/IFX Heatpipe Chipset Cooler for SLI Motherboards
Cons:Doesn't live up to sli expectation on my motherboard, and is free to move around a little too much.
Pros:Heat pipes built on an angle allow you to move this away from cards and whatnot. Allows some flexability with positioning. Comment:
Replace a whiny 6K RPM 40 mm fan with this on my Asus A8n Sli SE board. This takes the place of the 2nd sli port, there is simply no way it couldn't be positioned to do so, but that doesn't impact me as I mostly wanted to quiet down this computer. Installation took a while as the instructions didn't realy outline which of the three sets of retention clips you should use. I chose the pushpins and they appear to work ok. I mounted a silenx 80 mm 14 db fan on this as I figured it would improve the airflow and be better than passive. Assembly wasn't too bad, and I liked that I could rotate it around a bit to make it work the way I wanted.Packaging was impressive as it included a significant amount of Thermalright Thermal paste. Saves me having to buy more. Cools as well or better than stock, although I don't have numbers to provide exact details.Only complaint is that (on my board) it killed Sli in the future and it does tend to be moveable which kind of scares me.. would recommend to anyone with my board or similar, and would certainly purchase again. |
Bought this to replace my default NB heat-sink on a GB E7AUM-DS2H. As Elie_R pointed out, the NB on this mobo gets very hot. This was easy to install and does an amazing job. The temp on the NB was in the mid 80's with the default heat-sink while playing Skyrim or Diablo 3 Beta, now using the HR-05-SLI i haven't seen the temp pass 35 while playing. Absolutely impressed. I highly recommend this product! My Specs:Cool master NV 690 case - 5 Fans installedGB E7AUM-DS2H moboIntel Dual Core E7400 2.8ghz OC to 3.5ghz (stock HS)Gigabyte Radeon 6850 OC to 915/1100
