Thermalright VRM-R4 Heatpipe VGA Cooler for ATI HD 5870/5850 VGA Cards
Cons:
None that I see.
Pros: LooksFunctionalityEasy install Comment:
I was getting pretty high VDDC Phase temps on my 5870 with the Accelero Extreme 5870 VRM sink with my OC. (1.25V Stock = 1.16V. 1000/1300) This thing dropped them by 40-50C. (Can't remember the ambient temps between tests but they were close.)I am using the exhaust from the CPU intake fans, not an attached 80mm fan. (Not optimal but it works. I bought the wrong type of 80mm fan.) I'm quite pleased with this product. |

Thermalright VRM-R4 Heatpipe VGA Cooler for ATI HD 5870/5850 VGA Cards
Cons:abit pricey with no fan included
Pros:keeps the vrms really cool with a good fan on it. Comment:
even with furmark running extreme burn mode it kept the vrms below 80.You can use this vrm cooler with practicly any cooler out as it goes under the cooler. |
Ugh I can't believe I had to buy this heatsink. Arctic Cooling makes great VGA heatsinks, but the included memory and VRM heatsinks are the worst. They always fall off because they have a really thin film of adhesive applied to them. The long VRM heatsink they provided didn't fit my 5850 so I ended up cutting up their smaller ones to put on the individual VRMs. Didn't work so well as they started falling off.I bought this for $20 pricematched, slapped it on with no difficulty and now I can game once again with peace of mind. I prefer this model to the R3 because it lines up with CPU fan in my system. It was also nice that Thermalright included an extra thermal pad, screw and washer - most companies don't bother with this courtesy. This review was modfied by poster @ 08-25-10 11:44 PM
