Thermaltake A2309 iCage 5.25" bay convert to 3 x 3.5" HDD Module
Comment:
Converts your unused five.25" optical drive bays into 3.5" challenging drive bays. It snaps in simply and worked nicely with the tool-less drive installation in my case. Lots of space in involving drives so they stay rather cool. The fan isn't all that efficient and I dislike LEDs but I was capable to cover it with the drive bay covers that came with the case. It inhibits air flow but I dislike my server searching like a Christmas tree. |

Low cost for cage that contains a fan. Wxact exact same a single that came with my thermaltake case and now I can increase airflow even greater. My motherboard has two chassis fan monitors but they're 3 pin so the speed can be ajusted but the fan integrated soes not connect that way and runs complete speed all the time and for me that is nevertheless to slow rpm and will have to acquire a three pin fan rated at about 2000rpm. I knew the fan was wired like that prior to obtain and was just buying the cage and take into account the included fan a backup in case one fails till I can get a replacement. The typical user need not be concerned about fan speed as this addition is a huge improvement for any case. |

Got a second 1 for my Armor case to house a RAID. Its straightforward to mount the drives and effortless to install into my Armor case. From the style it functions best with Thermaltake instances. But it also fit nicely into my Raidmax case also. The blue LED fan looks cool |

Beats using three five.25 to 3.five adapters. Fits in a regular case with sufficient space for five.25 front plates/vents to cover it. Keeps the drives good and cool. Fan is quiet. Plenty of screws. The blue leds are distracting. I put this is an old beige complete size atx case under my dvdrw drive. It match and mounted perfectly. And to my surprise it gave me a lot of room for the screened five.25 face plate vents I use. |

This is great for improving case airflow, cooling tough drives, and for cases that lack enough three.5 bays for really hard disk drives. I had HDD heat troubles -55C in the course of gaming) and only 2 bays (when I have 4 hard drives), and this issue solved all my troubles. Mounting the hard drives could not have been easier and the complete assembly works as a heatsink mainly because it is one particular substantial piece of aluminum. The fan that comes with it is of poor top quality, blue LEDs are far more annoying than cool to some of us, and it doesn't move substantially air to boot. I replaced it with a Rosewill 120mm and the predicament was substantially enhanced. Expense of three three.five-ɱ.25 mounting brackets = about thirty to forty dollars. Price of this unit = far significantly less. Plus this comes with a fan and a nifty TT 120mm grill! |

I'm sort of a Thermaltake Junkie, largely since every little thing I purchase from them lasts me a really lengthy time. This cage was fantastic because I had some empty bays to occupy. Also I'm quite sure if you just want to use two or 1 of them you can unscrew it and take off the fan. None! |

immediately add three hd bays, effortless to install in Armor instances, matching blue fan for present Armor and other similar thermaltake situation owners. fan has a speed sensor. not the exact same top quality as the ones that come with Thermaltake instances. its a lighter material.. the one that came with the case feels a small much more sturdier.. that wasnt genuinely a con... it nonetheless does its job of holding drives and keeping em cool. |

It holds a fan! Complicated to install screws into the HDDs. "iCage" is a best way to describe how you will really feel each and every time you have to access your drives (claustrophobic). It does not even have space to use tweezers to get the screws in (it's a cage inside a cage that gets installed in your bays), and will trap your screws. I believed this would be an improvement on the cage supplied with my Thermaltake M59, but it's worse, the holes (in the outer layer of iCage-five.25) for mounting a HDD (in the inner cage-3.five) are smaller sized than my stock cage. Also, the mounting holes (for the instances drive bays) didn't line up with my situation, so I had to drill my Thermaltake M59 situation so my two front intake fans matched (well performed Thermaltake). Tape your HDD screws to a screwdriver so you dont drop 'em. I know Thermaltake tends to make some decent products but I will never buy from them again! |

Effectively created, construction feels considerable and not low-cost. Drives match perfect, and cage slid into case without any difficulties. The fan appears to preserve the drives great and cool. I could do devoid of the LEDs on the fan, but that's just individual preference. |

3 drives rather of 4 makes for a roomy cage. Air flow should be significantly much less restricted than in the Cooler Master version (also readily available from Newegg for a handful of dollars a lot more) that holds four drives. Fits with each other nicely. With the instructions given below and some tools (a Dremel tool with cutoff wheel and drill bit, pop riveter and ten tiny rivets) you can get a lot of airflow thru this cage . Not as pretty as Cooler Master's version but nonetheless extremely great.Air flow ought to be pretty excellent, or could be, anyway. The back panel has drive-sized cutouts for sliding the drives into the cage. Sadly, once the drives are installed there are no openings to let the hot air flow out.I got the Cooler Master hdd cage a couple of weeks ago but didn't feel like it was moving enough air with 4 drives installed. Drive temperatures went up about 13 degrees F. I got this cage to compare to the Cooler Master and located the airflow was restricted by style, so I modified it. With two drives in every cage drive temps returned to standard - about 92 F at 80 ambient. I really like these little cages but the companies don't look to put substantially believed into the airflow thru them. I don't care how it looks, I will need cooling. Why isn't there a heatsink pad to put amongst the sides of a drive and the cage's chassis? Turn the entire cage into a heatsink. Note that the drive in the top rated tray will be upside down immediately after producing this mod. Enhance airflow by modding as follows: 1) take away the back panel and best two trays by drilling out the pop rivets (buy a pop riveter and rivets in a kit for บ - you really should already have a single); 2) cut out the aluminum rectangle in the bottom of the middle tray (using a Dremel tool with cutoff wheel - you have those currently. No? Sheesh) and reinstall with rivets at the front panel; three) turn the top rated tray upside down, hold it in location against the front panel and scribe the sides where material requirements removal; four) trim the sides with Dremel; five) fit to front panel and mark holes for rivets; 6) drill holes and reinstall to front panel with rivets; 7) cut away the cross brace in between the middle and top trays on the back panel; 8) trim away as considerably of the other cross brace as doable; 9) fit the back panel and mark holes for rivets on major tray; 10) drill holes in leading tray and set up the back panel with rivets. Done. |

Extremely good for adding or moving tough drives in your case. Gives you a bit additional space to function with and provides excellent ventilation around the drives. Extremely effortless to modify. Demands a lot of modification to mount the tough drives backwards (To hide cables). Screw holes are dumb; should have a single "lane" to place the screws via. I'm glad I purchased this. It assisted get my case cleaned up a lot. I was in a position to remove the other difficult drive bays to raise airflow to my video card and CPU. |

Very best remedy for creating a Raid five configuration, or to just fit these challenging drives that with nowadays's video cards just don't fit. The additional fan does enable to keep the drives and mother board cool. The fan is a good blue L.E.D and incredibly quiet. It makes it possible for ease of Tricky drive replacement. The complete cage goes in and out thorught the front of the Computer. If you don't have the three five.25" bay slots to spare, DO NOT GET THIS!!! In addition to that, installation is a brease. I wish the fan was Mother board controlled. I wish it sat flush against the front of the Computer case (is not flush with the DVD drive), it seats about 1ǚ" deeper in the case. I got this for my buddies buid. He wants a Crossfire set up with 2 raptors for Vista and a Raid 5 for Programs and Information. The HD 4890 are incredibly long, so not all HDD's fit in his case. This item performs excellent, and now I want a single my self |

-Cools tricky drives properly. Even below load, my drives remain icy cool...-Blows enough cool air in to reduce the general system temps a few degrees as well-Straightforward enough to mount the cage-Universal fit. It's meant particularly for a thermaltake case, but it'll fit anything with 3 open bays. Despite the fact that, if you have a case like mine, with exposed drive bays, you'll be staring at the exposed blue LED fan all day. I have my tower on major of my desk, ideal next to me, so this is incredibly noticeable to me. Oh, and a lot really like to Newegg... I ordered on friday, and it was on my doorstep tuesday morning -A little tricky to set the screws that hold the drives to the cage. The screws are deeply recessed, and you could genuinely use some knowledge in the board game 'operation' to get them in there. I'm kinda nitpicking a small right here, as it's not one thing you really have to do also typically. -It's now the loudest aspect of my method, I can hear it more than the noise of my aging CPU cooler. It's not that poor, it's just not a silent fan by any means. Fair trade off even though for the quantity of air it pushes. It's sort of a con to me, but some people may possibly like it... the blue LED is actually bright. I'm not hunting to make my process visible from space, despite the fact that I know a lot of people today here like that type of look. I'd like a thing to cover the face of the unit with, but so far the only vented drive covers I've identified are around ฤ, and needing three to cover the complete unit, I'm not going to commit ์ on a answer. I'm thinking I may just cut the leads to the LED's... |

Fits properly in my case, cools down hard drive and increases HD life span. Cool blue lights which have a spiral style. Lots of screws even although you likely won't need to have them all. Not really loud. The three pin fan plug doesn't function, i had to use a normal four prong plug. No major deal. Which it looked greater sticking outside of the case. The sides are empty, producing the overall case appear like its missing a thing. Its a good use of those 3 empty 5.25" slots. Prior to they were just empty, now they're cooling down my hard drives and growing general airflow. |

I don't know why somebody mentioned they were having issues when putting in tricky drives in the 3.5 bays bc the front of the case comes off and you can pull the cage out of the front as an alternative more than your motherboard which is actually nice if you are ever upgrading or adding tricky drives. Connecting all the cables for front panel was super straightforward. I love that that power supply is at the bottom vs. the best. Just like every person has mentioned yes the fan does touch the motherboard but you don't need to remove it to instal the mobo. really nothing else that i can consider of. right after reading a lot of other peoples cons it appears like to me that they aren't truly cons, individuals just don't like possessing to take time to make their laptop or computer. general great case and would purchase a different 1 if i needed a different personal computer |

Converts three 5.25 bays to three 3.5 bays, aluminum construction to hold your drives cooler, good-seeking 120mm fan on front, came with much more screws than I needed, and the fan's LED color matches my case perfectly. The fan shocked me with how much air it was moving, and it makes tiny noise. It was a tiny hard to get it into my Cooler Master case (not to mention incompatible with the tool-no cost style), but a little work saw it appropriately installed. It requires up an entire three drive bays, but what do I want five 5.25 drive bays for anyways? If your case doesn't have a front cover that permits airflow, you're wasting your time with the fan (just leave it unplugged or something). If you need a drive bay converter, or some decent tricky drive cooling, acquire it. It works, and it doesn't price substantially. |

Great create high quality, snazzy blue LEDs in the fan.I essentially have this installed BACKWARDS in an NZXT Apollo case and I believe it operates much better this way. When I want to add or get rid of the iCage to transform drives I don't have to mess around inside the case or remove my CPU cooler. I can only remove the empty drive covers and slide the iCage out the front of my case. Not truly a con, but possessing to slide the entire unit out to add/remove drives truly defeats the goal of obtaining tool-less drive bays.Fan speed can't be adjusted, only monitored by the three-pin plug. Fan is powered by a four pin Molex but also has a 3-pin plug with only one cable which can be hooked into the motherboard to monitor fan speed. Considering that I have this in backwards I also reversed the fan so it now draws air over my HDDs and blows air more than my RAM and into my Zalman cooler and ideal out the back of my case. |

Low-cost (Why are difficult drive holders ever not this inexpensive?!).Really light weight.Metal edges weren't razor sharp.Has sufficient space amongst drives for air flow.Has a Really significant, and quiet, fan on it.Vivid blue LEDs on the fan. LEDs may be a distraction/unwanted.Metal edges weren't dull.Metal feels light enough you could likely bend it very easily. If you're looking at drive cages and are questioning why this 1 is so a lot less costly, just get it, the actual question is why are the other choices so expensive? |

-Functions as intended.-The included blue LED fan matches my situation's lighting.-Cable length is a lot more than sufficient. There are several oversights so far as style that could be relative to my unique case/hardware and not straight thermaltake's fault. None the much less it will expense this item 1 egg:-It is was rather complicated and all round rather frustrating to install the 2.five to three.five converters I bought to use SSD's in this application. -I installed this device into a coolermaster centurion situation as a indicates of adding more drives for a RAID setup. As a fault of the style of the five.25 bays it will be impossible to eliminate a single tough drive without removing the whole iCage unit. This will surely be a point of frustration down the line, compounded by the reality that it will only occur when a HDD has failed :( A solid item, the style matters I indicated are mainly related to other items when employed in conjunction with this device. Just beware of these troubles when planning your make. |

Sturdy, great fan, quiet, added storage space for my HTPC. none actually Fits just fine in my old Sonata II case I have my HTPC in. Threw on a set of tooless rails and all is very good.I did take the fan off and turn it around so the air was blowing in, which is no issue, took a couple of minutes. This point was created for a specific case and for that distinct application the fan really should be blowing out. But it fits in my case and should match in most or all case that have at least three five.25" bays. Just turn the fan about and you need to be in fantastic shape.
