Thermaltake A2396 External Enclosure
Cons:- Backplate not glued properly.
Pros:+ Good flexibility. Comment:
Excellent product that provides good hdd compatibility (pata and sata) and interface support (esata and usb2.0). The backplate wasn't glued properly and fell off the day after I received it. It wasn't a major issue and it was easy to fix. |

Pretty much bought it for its ability to use IDE/SATA with eSATA/USB. Quality enclosure, keeps HD cool with aluminum casing, great product. |

Thermaltake A2396 External Enclosure
Cons:could use rubber feet for placing horizontally on table
Pros:sturdy constructionIDE and SATA capableno fan (quiet)nice looking Comment:
This is an awesome product, and I am so glad I did not go for one of the cheaper, single purpose (IDE or SATA) units available!! I bought this with a new PC so I could use it to migrate my IDE drives nto a PC w/o IDE ports, and later use it for eSATA, and it worked great. USB is not as fast as eSATA but having both in the unitprovides great flexibilty. USB 2.0. |

Thermaltake A2396 External Enclosure
Cons:- no active cooling (really had to think for this)
Pros:- USB2- ESata- SATA drives- PATA drives Comment:
Great enclosure!I know I said that it had no active cooling, but it is made from aluminum which helps to transfer the heat. Also great for upgrade options seeing as you can either connect it via USB or ESATAANDit will take either a IDE drive or a SATA drive |

Thermaltake A2396 External Enclosure
Cons:esata can only be used with sata hard drive
Pros:works like it should, with sata and ide Comment:
I wasn't aware that the esata only worked with a sata hard drive, I have a 250gb hard drive I wanted to use for back up, and since it is ide I can only use the usb, which is way slower that esata. Kind of a let down, I bought this due to the fact I would be useing it for esata. I plan on buying a 500gb sata so then I will be fine. Also note has a esata connection on it, not a sata, so you will need a esata card or a esata to sata cable. Which is fine cause esata is the better choice, as well this thing can handle a 1000gb hard drive for future use. |
I already have one of these external enclosures and bought a second one because it can accommodate IDE or SATA HDDs. It outperforms my previous enclosure (Vantec) which I believe had PnP and controller issues and wasn't always recognized, even when drivers were installed.
