Toshiba Satellite C650-001 I3-2310M 2.1GHZ 4GB 500GB 15.6IN DVDRW Windows 7 Home Premium Notebook
Cons:- Feels a little cheap- Load of bloatware (as always)- Rather long configuration of Windows
Pros:- Inexpensive (after price match)- Light- Nice finish- Powerful enough |
Got this laptop for a friend of mine that needed a new computer for school and office work. Since he was not looking for gaming performance, I found this laptop to be a good deal (499$ after price match). As mentioned previously, it is far from heavy and not too big to move around. Finish is nice, all black, although the cover feels a little cheap due to all the plastic. Not enough of a downside to regret it, but it's the quality of a 500$ laptop. Spec side, it is quite nice and I couldn't expect more for the price. Now on to the real cons (why I removed a star). On first boot up, you are greeted with the first configuration wizard. While it uses a nice "model" (choice of language, 32/64bits Windows and drivers install), you still have no control over what software gets installed (a.k.a. bloatware). Ok fine, I'll just remove them in Windows. But it takes over an hour to install all of it! Then you get in Windows and start removing stuff like Norton (trial), Office 2010 (trial), etc. Not like I wasn't expecting something similar, but still a disappointment nonetheless. Overall, a great laptop for anyone with office needs. I would buy again, even knowing the that the install will take a few hours.
