Old SSD model perfect for an even older computer
Comment:
While SSDs lag behind their mechanical counterparts in capacity, 4 GB is small even by today's SSD standards, which probably accounts for this model disappearing from this site right after I bought it -- I may have gotten the last one (in which case writing this review is pointless, but...). 4 GB is exactly what I wanted -- I bought this for my old Amiga which has a 4-GB disk size limit. I wanted insurance against the age of its hard drives, and as they are SCSI, there are few replacement options available these days, and those which do exist are horribly expensive (and way bigger than I need). On paper, it's slow compared to its newer peers -- even other PATA SSDs -- but it's overkill for the Amiga's PIO-mode-only IDE interface (it really was meant to be a SCSI machine). But so far it works and serves its intended purpose. As an older model, it was fairly cheap for an SSD, although I'd have preferred it a bit cheaper still.

Easy Laptop Refurbish
Comment:
Refurbish your older laptops with this Solid State Drive and Debian Linux. It's easy, inexpensive, and the HDD has no moving parts!

Very nice SSD to experiment with!
Comment:
Please ignore both previous reviews, these two users just didn't know how to effectively use this product: This item is by no means meant to be used as a ''Local Disk'' for any Windows OS - although you CAN install some Linux distros and they'll fly like a scorching phoenix on this solid drive. It works flawlessly as a pagefile or swapfile drive, (you know, virtual memory). That way, you take the burden off your C: or whatever primary drive you're using. Also, you can use it as an external drive (with an enclosure and adapter of course) and any portable application you may run from it will run like no other hard disk could. The possibilities are huge with just a bit of creativity and messing around... So, based on my some months of experience playing with this baby, I have to say that I'm very satisfied with this specific SSD and it's potential applications for day to day computing. OH! I forgot a little secret - did you noticed something in the images? It's SLC, not MLC noobs!

Transcend 2.5" 4GB Solid State Hard Drive
Comment:
For WinXP , you will need like 16Gb in order to install OS plus additional software like Office and more and having room for cloning, defragmenting and more. This 4GB is more focused for data storage application.
