ordered this thing for a friend of mine who was using onboard audio which didn't work properly anymore. this isn't the cheapest sound card but he has a low profile case, so this was the best choice since most sound cards wouldn't fit in his case. this sound card is very simple to install and use, i wouldn't recommend it as an "upgrade" over anything but could be a solution if a regular pci sound card isn't an option. it's good at what it's intended for. cheap easy sound. it's even easier to intall than a sound card. |

It improved the sound over the headphone out. It was easy to install and was worth the cost. I use the SPDI throughput into my audio receiver and I am very happy with the difference. |
This USB sound card does the job well, and provides crisp AC3/DTS audio over an optical connection to an AVR. I did have some drop-out issues but disabling the WLAN on my laptop resolved those entirely.
