I initially ordered a HD for my laptop and figured i may as well get an enclosure for the one in there when i take it out. I was very surprised when i got the Ultra HD enclosure. It actually looks good and its nice and sleek. I would buy another in the future!

I am a surgeon and computer enthusiast at the same time. I am very picky - I always look for the best quality and am always willing to pay extra money for it. I did not yet buy hard drive for it (so I can not rate the performance - please ignore 5 stars for it), but am very impressed with the quality of build and included accessories. Honestly, I think that the price 23 CAD is too low. I hope that store managers won't increase it after reading this. :-)

Price is great. Unit is awesome. It just works. I have never needed to use the power port. Just 1 USB cable and it works fine. Hard drive mounts inside with 4 screws and then entire assembly screws together. Not designed to remove and reinstall hard drive really. Put a drive in this unit and leave it. I ordered a 2nd one for my Macbook.

It was easy to put my hard drive into the case and when I plugged it into my USB port, it worked. No messing around, it was plug and play. I liked it and would recommend it. The quality was great and it works.

In searching for an enclosure for my old Mac Book uni body drive, I kept reading about premature failures and shoddy construction from other enclosure makers. Therefore I was reassured to see such a steady stream of good reviews for this one. And so far, right they were. Extruded aluminum fits well and is thick but light. Included screws swapped with the little Mac Book mounts just fine with the included tiny 1 Phillips and the Torx 6 driver I bought at the local hardware store. The cord is the most massive U SB cord I now own. I guess to pass more MA to the drive. Unlike my Sea gate Free Agent Go, the pilot light stays on after ejecting the drive, so I never quite know if it is safe to unplug it, so I just leave it in to prevent data corruption.

this case work really good but if i were you get the with the esata port it is power via usb and can really take a hit

I bought two of these. The first one is dead now because the miniusb connector detached itself after a year or so of use. Being a mobile-external device, this usb port should be proper designed to support additional mechanical efforts. Otherwise, this is a very nice looking case, AL heat transmitting and optimal form factor. Would recommend it to anyone.

Laptop died and I now use this enclosure to keep its hard drive in. Real easy to set up and carry around. Don't even need a power cable.

Slow,but works & Cable shorted... I'm not totally upset yet, I have a bad cable, which they sent and I am in the middle of trying to get it exchanged, we'll see what the out come will bring for a better review... Tidewater, VA.

Product did not work with a Kingston SSD. I tried Vista, XP and Windows 7; OS did not 'see' drive.

Perfect addition to my arsenal of support accessories (cables, drives, external enclosures, etc) when working on desktops and laptops. (NOTE: this unit is specifically for 2.5 inch SATA drives) Easy assembly and use. Provided an effective method to install missing files on laptop hard drive. Very compact. I would buy this unit again in a heart beat.

It comes with two cables, but you don't have to use both of them. The extra one is just in case your particular hard drive needs more power. The soft case is loose enough that you can store the screw driver in it.

This worked exactly as it said it would. I was able to take an old laptop drive from my son's computer and recover all the important data he had stored on it, then re-formatted the drive and now it is used as an extra external data source.

This product performed exactly as expected. Installation was a snap, included case and screwdriver were nice perks. I was a little worried by the lack of foam or rubber inside to protect the drive, but it seems to fit very snug. The brushed aluminum finish also looks great. The LED indicator light is very bright. This did not bother me, however, it might be something to consider. I would recommend this product.

Its size fits into your front shirt pocket. It comes with two caples; bothe go from my laptop to the drive. My hard drive, 120 GB, didn't need the extra power cord so all I need is the primary cable to run it from my laptop. It runs like a champ!

Very satisfied. I'm not a computer person so I felt nervouse about putting an old hard drive out of a laptop in this and making it work. It work without a glitch. The hard drive fit perfectly into the case. The case looks very nice as well. One thing that was confusing was that the description did not say where the power came from to powet the hard drive. I was worried that a power adapter would be needed. The power ended up coming from the USB cord. It would have been helpful to me if this information would have been included. Would buy another one if needed.
