The brushed metal case is pretty strong, stable, & durable. The only bad thing I've found is that the eSATA plug doesn't fit very tightly in the enclosure's plug. The slightest bump can make the computer lose connection with the drive. I ran into this issue a few times. Part of the problem is due to the fact that the eSATA cable is a flat cable, and is pretty stiff. It's also a bit too long, and could definitely be shortened. Overall though, I'm very impressed & happpy with this enclosure. I would definitely buy this enclosure again.

I've used several of these enclosures over the last 3 years and this one is no different. Ultra products are easy to set up and use. Case is rugged and reliable. Thats why I continue to use Ultra products, no worry.

I'm using it as an additional storage for my laptop. I'm pleased with the fast transfer speed(eSATA),which is 3-5 times of USB.

This enclosure appears to be a good product. I was not able to use it with my Hitachi hard drive because the drive has small screws on each side that prevent it from fitting into the enclosure of this case.

The product may be fine, but the exact same thing happened to me. The package, instructions, cables etc include the eSata connector - but the actual enclosure only has usb?!?!

Ratings I am giving this enclosure is not because of the quality. I ordered this enclosure as it has eSATA, but unfortunately it was mis-packaged by ULTRA and Tigerdirect told me to contact ULTRA and ULTRA wants me to jump through hoops even to exchange even though their product was packaged wrong without all the parts. Thus high quality for what I got, but, did not get the feature I ordered, or the performance I ordered so value is 0.

All external parts are hard anodized, black, brushed aluminum, even the end caps are metal. Ends are held in place with machine screws, not the plastic latch type, very solid. Four small screws hold the hard drive itself tight in the main compartment, there is lots of metal to metal contact to the case which is great for pulling heat out, unlike other enclosures where the drive is held in a plastic frame that then has a slide on or clip on metal shell. Comes with three cables, all black and good quality. USB-A to Mini-B, eSata, and a USB-A to 5volt (for powering the drive in eSata mode). I prefer this set up to the standard 2 input Y type of usb cable to power the drive. Comes with a simple open-ended sleeve which isn't as fancy as the other closing wallet type cases but I prefer it as i can keep the drive in my laptop bag with the mini-plug connected and just pull out the USB-A end when I need files off it. Runs warm, but it should, cool would mean no heat dissipation.
