easy install plug and play no software needed, thats nice for not very technical people like myself. so far i am very impressed with the item i hooked up my usb security camera thats about 20 feet away and did not notice any signal lost.i have always used ultra memory before with great satisfaction and i happy to say that quality was not sacrificed to bring a low cost easy to use product to the market. i would buy this item again |

Does Not Extend 5volt power as led to believe

i have a 25ft usb cable that works when plugged directly into the motherboard, but when the 25ft cord is plugged into the active usb extension i got nothing. we are led to believe that this is a voltage and data repeater cable. it clearly doesnt provide the same port at the end of the cable as my motherboard provides. it is cheaper to cut a small USB cord and use multi line telephone wire soldered to the cut usb cord the multi line telephone cord is six conductor cord, use 2 conductors for the positive and 2 conductors for the negative, then use the remaining 2 conductors for data wires, doubling up on the power wires. the multi line telephone cord will cost you 8 cents per foot and 25ft works then put a self powered usb hub at the end of the 25ft cord and you can add another 25ft i pulled 25ft for $2 50ft will need a self powered usb hub |
